=========================================================================== BBS: The GWE BBS [ASV/CIN] Date: 04-20-29 (44 19) Number: 399 From: SIR LANCELOT #1 @155*6 Refer#: NONE To: ALL Recvd: YES Subj: Tortilla Soup Conf: (37) Home Cooki --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10 corn tortillas, torn into pieces 1/4 cup milk 1 small onion, cut up 1 clove garlic 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 4 oz can green chilies, seeded, rinsed and chopped 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese cooking oil 3 cups chicken or beef broth 1/2 cup light cream 2 tablespoons taco sauce (or to taste) Cilantro (optional) Place torillas and milk in blender container; let stand 5 minutes. Add onion,  garlic, egg, salt and pepper. Cover and blend until mixture is smooth. Turn  mixture into bowl; fold in chilies and cheese. Shape mixtures into 18 one-inch  balls using about one teaspoon of mixture for each. Fry tortillas balls in  1/2" hot oil for 1 1/2 minutes or until lightly browned, turning once. With  slotted spoon, carefully remove and drain on paper towels; keep warm. In  saucepan, combine broth, cream and taco sauce. Heat through. Sprinkle with  cilantro leaves, if desired. Add tortilla balls; serve immediately..... SERVES 6.......
