I don't know if it's "New York" or not, because I don't really know what a New York cheese cake is. Anyway you said you were interested, so here it is. Sorry it took so long. I had to wait for my mother to send it to me via snail mail. Cheese Cake 4 - 8 oz. pkgs. cream cheese (Philly is the best choice) 5 - eggs 1 cup sugar 1 Tbl. spoon vanilla dash of salt Cut cheese into cubes & cream. Add the sugar, cream some more. Add the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and salt. Pour this mixture into a spring form pan (8 or 9 inch by 4 inch is pretty good). Bake at 375 for 30 to 40 minutes. Take out of oven and cool for 10 minutes. Set oven to 475. Make the topping as noted below. 1 cup of sour cream 4 Tbl. spoons sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Blend this mixture together then spread it on top of cheese cake. Bake in oven for about 5 min. That's it. This cheese cake is very creamy and rich. It's not incredibly sweet, but it's not really supposed to be. Be sure to let cool thoroughly before removing from the pan. Don't try to speed up the cooling process by putting it in the fridge or something. If you do, the cake won't set up.
