(serves 8 to 9) 5 carrots 3 lbs. boneless lean meat 1/4 cup oil 6 medium potatoes 1 1/2 cup Bisquick 3 onions Milk (for bisquick) 10 lbs. charcoal briquets (troop will supply starter) About 2 hours before dinner time, build a HOT charcoal fire using about twice as many briquets as it takes to fill a circle the diameter of the dutch oven. (It is better to have a few too many, than not enough.) While you are waiting for the fire to get ready, cut the meat and vegetables into bite size cubes. Salt and pepper to taste. Put the ov- en on the fire and level it. Add the oil, then the meat. (do not add the vegetables yet) Brown the meat all over with the oven uncovered. This will take about 15 minutes. Then add 1 cup water and the vegeta- bles. Cover and continue to cook for a total of about 1 hour. Check and stir every 10 to 15 minutes, adding water as necessary to prevent burning. When meat and vegetables are tender, (about 1 hour), add enough milk to the bisquick to make a stiff dough. Spoon biscuit size pieces of this dough onto the top of the meat and vegetable mixture. Cover the oven. Add about 20 briquets on the lid, and cook for about 15 min- utes more, or until the biscuits are brown. (Be careful not to drop ashes from the lid into the oven) Remove from fire and serve. Lance Halle 1@6211 MOON VALLEY TRIANGLE Phoenix, AZ. 602-942-9228 [GSA ASV]
