Here is my mom's recipe for Snickerdoodles! I think it is the best.

1C. shortening                    1C. sugar
1/2C. brown sugar                 2 eggs
2 3/4C. flour                     2t. cream of tartar
1/2t. soda                        1t.vanilla
1/4t. salt

Mix shortening, sugars, eggs & vanilla thoroughly. Mix together dry ingredients
& stir into creamed mixture. Form dough into bals. Roll in mixture of 2T.sugar
& 1 1/2t. cinnamon. Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees on ungreased baking sheets.
