The following is a great recipe for Teriyaki Sauce.
Makes not only a great marinade but also good straight.

1/2 C. Soy Sauce
1/4 C. Sherry (Do not omit or substitute)
       Real Sherry not the cooking stuff that's not fit to drink :)
1   tsp. sesame oil
1   tsp. Minced Ginger Root (The real stuff preferred but powder
                            as a last resort)
1   Clove of Garlic ( I use a rounded tsp. of the minced fresh kind)
1   tsp. Sugar

Mix all together well.
