                        Christmas Fruit Drops

Ingredients:

            1 1/2 C. sifted flour              3/4 C. sugar
            1/2 t. soda                        1 egg
            1 t. salt                          1/2 t. vanilla extract
            1/2 cup shortening                 1 C. finely chopped
                                                    candied fruit

     Sift together flour, soda and salt. Cream together shortening and sugar

until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract. Beat well. Blend candied

fruit with flour mixture and add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Drop by

teaspoonfuls on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in moderate oven 375 degrees for
10 minutes. Makes five dozen 2-inch cookies.
