People.. its almost turkey time again.. and I need to know a few > things.. Turkey, stuffed: 8 - 12 lbs. 3 1/2 - 4 hours 12 - 16 lbs. 4 - 4 1/2 hours 16 - 20 lbs. 4 1/2 - 5 hours 20 - 24 lbs. 5 - 6 hours Cook at 325 degrees . Allow about 1/2 hour less for unstuffed bird. Invest the $2.00 or $3.00 in a meat thermometer and insert it in the turkey between the breast and thigh, careful not to let it touch bone. Cook until the thermometer reads 180 - 185 degrees. I suggest brushing the bird (right side up with wings tucked under for balance) with melted butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast uncovered until the last hour, then cover the turkey with a foil "tent". Baste occasionally. Let the cooked turkey cool for about 30 minutes before attempting to carve. And another thing...don't trust those pop-up things. Get a meat thermometer. Hope this helps! Good luck.
