Goodman, Paul: GROWING UP ABSURD, Random House, ISBN 0-394-70032-5, $4.95. Adolescent coming of age a couple of generations ago. Goodman was considered one of our most prominent social critics in the '50's and '60's, and was an icon of the youth rebellion of the '60's. Medieval times come alive in this re-creation of the 14th Century in both historical overview and description of daily life. Very well done. Even more than a decade after publication, still one of the most useful and enjoyable resources available.
