This message has instructions on entries for Regedit that will allow 
Windows NT to recognize your Quantum HardCard drive!  No additional drivers
are necessary...  I used the instructions and am using my Quantum HardCard
under NT as the my second drive (D:).

I use the default settings:

X= number of additional drive I used 1

Base Address  I used 170
DriveControl  I used 376
Interrupt I used B (int 11)


p.s.- This was discovered by a Microsoft tech. Quantum was no help
whatsoever when it came to finding a way to use HardCards with NT!

.TITLE: Adding More Than Two IDE or ESDI Drives in Windows NT

Summary:

If a machine has more than two IDE or ESDI hard drives and needs an
MS-DOS based device driver to use the extra drives, then Windows NT
may not be able to use the extra drives by default.

To configure more than two IDE or ESDI hard drives with Windows NT,
the Registry (REGEDT32.EXE) must be modified to add the information
on the extra drives. You will also need technical information about
your drives which should be in their documentation.

CAUTION: Modifying the Registry can harm your system. Query on these
keywords in the Microsoft Knowledge Base for details:

   KEYREG and WARNING and NTADSRV.

Note: To make the changes in the Registry, you must be logged on as
      an Administrator.

More Information:

This procedure should only be necessary if you are adding a third or
higher IDE or ESDI hard disk drive or your secondary IDE or ESDI
drive is at a non-standard address. If the drive is at a non-standard
address, then use the below procedure to add the correct address in
the Registry. The Key name in this case would be either 1 or 2.

Note: The information in this article applies to Intel x86
      architecure machines only.

To add support for 3 or more IDE or ESDI hard drives in Windows NT,
use the following procedure:

1. Open the Registry Editor (REGEDT32.EXE).

2. Use the following path:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Atdisk

3. From the Edit menu, choose Add Key to create the entry:

      Key Name: PARAMETERS
      Class: <blank>

4. Open the PARAMETERS key that you created in Step 3.

5. From the Edit menu, choose Add Key to create the following entries:

      Key Name: X
      Class: <blank>

   Where "X=number of the additional drive", such as 2 for the third
   drive. For each additional drive, increment the Key Name by 1.
   You generally MUST specify the starting parameter as 2 or higher.
   This is so that you don't interfere with the primary or secondary
   controller that most BIOS's support.

6. Select the key that you created in step 5.

7. From the Edit menu, choose Add value and add the following
   values described below. Set the Data Type of all three entries
   to REG_WORD.

   BaseAddress
   -----------
   This is the physical address of the Data register for the controller.

   DriveControl
   ------------
   This is the physical address of the drive control register of
   the controller.  Often this is 0x206 off of the BaseAddress
   register.

   Interrupt
   ---------
   This is the interrupt that the controller will use.

Here what a sample registry entry looks like for adding a Quantum EZ
hard disk onto a COMPAQ 486/33L. This machine has a simple ESDI drive
as its primary controller.

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Atdisk
      \Parameters\2

         BaseAddress = REG_DWORD 0x320
         DriveControl = REG_DWORD 0x32e
         Interrupt = REG_DWORD 0xa

Note: On a R4000 ARC machine you should not have to add anything if
      you simply use the IDE "adapter" card at the normal 0x1f0 or
      0x170 address.
