Windows Heading & Country Finder V1.0 ------------------------------------- Installation Instructions ------------------------- I am currently working on an installation program for WinHdg, but it's not finished yet so here are the manual installation instructions. 1) Create a sub-directory where the WinHdg files will go. 2) Move all the WinHdg files into this sub-directory. Consult Packing.Txt to make sure you have all of the related files. 3) The easiest way to create a new item in a program group is to use Windows' drag & drop feature. Open the file manager and drag WINHDG.EXE to either an open or minimized program group. (Note: You could also use the Program Managers File|New|Program Item commands.) 4) A globe icon will appear in the program group with the WinHdg title. 5) Double-click on the WinHdg icon. WinHdg will appear on screen. 6) At this point, the first thing you will probably want to do is set your home latitude and longitude. Click on WinHdg's system menu box in the upper left hand corner of it's window. 7) Select menu item 'Set Lat-Long'. A 'Set Home Latitude and Longitude' dialog box will appear on the screen. 8) Click on the 'Help' button for info on the format WinHdg is expecting you to enter. 9) After setting your own coordinates click on the 'OK' button to save your new values. 10) WinHdg is now ready to calculate heading and distance data from your home coordinates! WinHdg is ShareWare. Please feel free to distribute it to friends and where ever! WinHdg was written in Turbo Pascal 7.0 running on a 386DX25 under Windows 3.1. If you have any problems, please drop me a note telling me what kind of system your running and what problems were encountered. I have tested WinHdg on several friends computers, but this is version 1.0, so there still may be something that I have overlooked. If you find any errors in the prefix or country tables, I would appreciate input on that too. John Jearos WA6FHI 8540 East Ave U5 Littlerock, CA 93543
