Clinical and epidemiologic information, including the use of varicella immune globulin and acyclovir, was obtained and testing for antibodies to varicella-zoster virus was done. The 13 children infected with human immunodeficiency virus had an uncomplicated clinical course, and many had a significant antibody response to varicella-zoster virus.
