History of the Mr. Machinist Program ==================================== 1985 - A passing thought... 1990 - A Trig. program on a Vic 20... 1991 - Mr. Machinist Beta Version in Pascal... 1993 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.00 ( 10-31-93 ) 1993 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.01 ( 12-15-93 ) Tried a mouse arrow instead of the block cursor but their was a report of screen bugs so it's back to the block cursor. Bug found in Split CNC file function. Program would lock up if a non-existing file was choosen. 1993 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.02 ( 12-21-93 ) Back to the mouse block cursor. CNC File Split Function fixed. 1993 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.03 ( 01-05-94 ) Went to a version using an overlay file, MRM.OVR. This will allow fewer memory problems and allow the program to accept other procedures in the future. The single .EXE file version was just to large. Also added an Oblique Triangle function. 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.04 ( 02-26-94 ) Re-compiled under Turbo Pascal Version 7.0. 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.05 ( 03-23-94 ) Found bugs in last version. System would lock-up if a 4 place decimal was input into the 'Chip Load' input line in the 'Milling' feed function. System would also lock-up if you tried to 'Sequence' or 'Un-Sequence' a file. Added a 'Bugs' help screen to main help menu to display bugs from previous versions. All Version 1.04 Bugs have been fixed. 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.06 ( 03-30-94 ) Input line bugs in 1.05. Added info to answer file upon sequence/un-sequence execution. 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.07 ( 04-06-94 ) Added extra 'spaces' function to sequence and un-sequence. Also changed 'N' numbers to 4 digits with leading zeros in these functions. 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.08 ( 05-05-94 ) Change of author address.! 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.09 ( 05-18-94 ) Moved dialog boxes out of the way of menus, caused execution of 'OK' button by striking 'Enter' on last input line, removed the bug that caused system lock-up in 3 points on a circle if a user input coordinates that rest on a straight line, added a function in the circle menu called, 'Pin in a Diamond' that calculates a diameter within a four sided symmetrical shape, added a printhelp choice in the helpfile, revised the manual, fixed the bug in the bolt circle function where if a user used the function once then 'Escaped' out and then used the function a second time right away it would cause a system lock-up, changed the views in 'bolt circle' and 'drill details' to 'editable' views. 1994 - Mr. Machinist Version 1.10 (06-18-94 ) Fixed a bug in some 1.09 versions. This was a bug within the editor. If you struck 'Ctrl-Y' to delete a line while you were in the editor the program would exit to DOS. This bug is taken care of and removed in this latest version. Math on any input line that may need it has been implemented. Basically the same functions take affect in input lines as they do in the calculator. The manual has been revised since MRM109 and it to will continually go through changes. There have also been additions to the help file. These additions are writtings from machinist technicians that are very informative. They are listed in the main help file window under the heading, 'The Cutting Edge Files'. You will be surprized at the content of these writtings. they cause the machinist/engineer to think alittle more! If you have an informative study of writtings that you would like to see included in 'The Cutting Edge' then just pick your best stuff and send it to us! By sending your studies you automatically give us permission to use them, if selected, in the programs help file. Mr. Machinist is one program that will continue to grow at a very rapid pace. New versions are out bi-weekly or sooner and bugs are fixed as soon as they are reported. Continual functions and procedures are being implemented as fast as the author gets time. Thank you for taking the time to read this important text file! + +AL+
