Thank you for choosing LifeTime! LifeTime is the PIM that makes the basic tasks of time management easier than any other. Follow the simple instructions below to install. INSTALLING LIFETIME Just choose "Run" from the Program Manager File menu, and in the box that comes up, type A:\SETUP.EXE. This assumes you have the LifeTime files on a diskette in your A:\ drive. If they are anywhere else instead, type in the path to them in place of the "A:\". Before you try to install, though, see the next section on VBRUN300.DLL. VBRUN300.DLL LifeTime requires a special library of routines called VBRUN300.DLL. The SETUP program mentioned above must have this file available also in order to run. If you obtained your LifeTime files directly from a bulletin board, this file was probably not included among the ones you downloaded for LifeTime. This is because VBRUN300.DLL is a file common to many Windows programs, and most of the people who download LifeTime will already have this file. Virtually any source from which you obtained these LifeTime files will also be able to provide you with VBRUN300.DLL. And if you got the files from a current user, it should already be on the disk. To see if it is either there, or on your system, try running the SETUP program as directed above. If VBRUN300.DLL is not present, a message will appear saying that the program cannot be run. Once you have VBRUN300.DLL, you may place it on the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. MANUAL INSTALL If you experience a problem installing through the SETUP program, you may install the files manually. In File Manager, create a new directory called LIFETIME (you may use another name if you wish). Then copy all the LifeTime files into it. You will also want to create the icon to represent LifeTime on your desktop. Follow the instructions in you Windows manual to do this. If you want to make the common Windows routines in LifeTime available to other programs you might obtain, you can move them from the LifeTime directory to a place where they can be accessed by other programs as well as LifeTime. In File Manager, move the files VBRUN300.DLL and CMDIALOG.VBX into the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. INSTALLING THE LIFETIME UTILITIES Upon registering LifeTime, your Registration Key diskette will contain the bonus Utility files in the \UTILS\ directory. Just choose "Run" from the Program Manager File menu, and in the box that comes up, type A:\UTILS\SETUP.EXE. This assumes you have the LifeTime Utility files on a diskette in your A:\ drive. If they are anywhere else instead, type in the path to them in place of the "A:\". NOTE: The INSTALL.EXE program may not operate correctly unless the file VBRUN300.DLL, which came with your original LifeTime program files, is moved to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. MANUAL INSTALL FOR UTILITIES If you experience a problem installing through the SETUP program, you may install the files manually. In File Manager, select the directory where your original LifeTime program files reside. Then copy all the LifeTime Utility files into it, except SETUP.EXE. That file has the same name as one in the original LifeTime program files, and that file is needed for the installation of Evaluation copies you might make for other people (through the "Create a Copy" menu pick). The utility programs can be called from the File menu of LifeTime, but you may optionally create icons to represent them. Follow the instructions in your Windows manual to do this.
