----------------------------------------------------------------- STACKER NOTE STACKER NOTE SUPER PC-KWIK AND STACKER 4.0 (Applies to Stacker 4.0) STAC FAX 4406 (03-25-1994) ----------------------------------------------------------------- BACKGROUND If you are using Super PC-Kwik, you may receive this error message on startup: "using boot sector information which differs from previous information...". This indicates that Super PC-Kwik is attempting to cache your Stacker drive. This is not necessary. Your Stacker drive exists as a large STACVOL.xxx file on the physical uncompressed drive. When the cache intercepts calls to the physical drive, it is also caching calls to and from the Stacker drive. In fact Super PCKwik is caching compressed data, which doubles the effective size of the cache. If you receive the error message above, turn off caching on the Stacker drive. SOLUTION Edit your PCKWIK.INI file with any text editor. Go to the [SUPERPCK] section and add the line: IgnoreDrive=x Where x is the letter of your Stacker (compressed) drive. If you have more than one Stacker drive, add one line for each Stacker drive. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 1994 Stac Electronics
