A. Introduction

Have you ever changed the Windows configuration and then had to exit
Windows to the DOS Prompt and then actually have to type "WIN"?  After
growing used to using a mouse for so long, it's hard sometimes to have to
type "WIN" at the DOS Prompt.  Or did you just reboot your system?
Rebooting your system while Windows is running can, over time, damage your
hard disk.

The answer to your problems is Windows Restart.  Windows Restart will let
you restart Windows just as if you started it from the DOS Prompt or
rebooted your system.

B. Requirements

Windows Restart requires:

Windows 3.0 or greater
VBRUN300.DLL (This file is available on most BBS's and should be found in
your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.)

C. How to Use Windows Restart

First make sure WINREST.EXE is in your \WINDOWS directory.
(The program doesn't NEED to be here, but it is a convenience.)

You can run Windows Restart from Program Manager in two ways.

1. From the File menu, Choose Run..., Type "WINREST", and Select OK.
   (If you didn't put WINREST.EXE in your \WINDOWS directory, then you must
   type out the full path name instead of only "WINREST".)

2. Add it to a group.  With the group you want to put Windows Restart into
   active (title bar is highlighted), Choose New... from the File menu.
   Make sure the New Program Object dialog box is set to Program Item and
   click on OK.  Enter a description in Description ("Windows Restart" will
   work fine).  For Command Line, enter "WINREST".
   (If you didn't put WINREST.EXE in your \WINDOWS directory, then you must
   type out the full path name instead of only "WINREST".)

From File Manager you can run Windows Restart by:

   From the File menu, Choose Run..., Type "WINREST", and Select OK.
   (If you didn't put WINREST.EXE in your \WINDOWS directory, then you must
   type out the full path name instead of only "WINREST".)

C. What does Public Domain mean?
