Cdpro Reference guide Introduction Cdpro produces script files that are used to login cd's using Majorcd . Cdpro has two modes of operation automatic and manual. Automatic mode can be used on any cd that has a listing file in each directory and all of the files are files that you want listed on your bbs. Typically all of the major brand cd's out there will allow the use of Cdpro's auto mode of operation . Cd's that have a listing file in every directory even though you don't want to use all of the files will have to be processed manually. Hardware Reqs IBM COMPATIBLE COMPUTER 640K RAM HARD DISK CDROM DRIVE Setup Menu The first selection on the setup menu is location of the cd being processed. To edit this selection move then highlight bar to this selection using the arrow keys and hit enter this will cause an edit window to appear. Edit the selection then hit enter to continue on to the next menu selection. The second selection is the name of the listing file that Cdpro will look for in each directory on the cd. an example of this type of file is FILES.BBS. This selection is edited in the same manner as the first selection. .All of the selections are edited in the same way. The third selection is the file format to be used this selection cannot be edited. The fourth selection is the location that the cd will be at during bbs operation. The fifth menu selection is the path where the SCRIPT.TXT file is saved. Sixth selection is the starting library number. The seventh selection is level of subdirectory. The eighth selection is whether or not to use dates. The ninth selection is the path and name for the Majorcd ASCII menu file. Automatic operation After you complete the set up menu hit F9 a window will appear that will say searching cd for listing files. When this is complete a message will appear saying that the SCRIPTFILE/MENUFILE is complete hit escape to exit cdpro. The cd's that auto mode will work on are the major cd's like Nightowl,Software Vault and pier shareware disks etc. Off brand cd's such as most adult cd's will have to use the auto tag feature in manual mode. Manual mode Manual operation is used when there are listing files in every directory and there are files that are not usable on your BBS also it is used when there isn't a listing file in every directory . If this happens then you should use the browse feature of Cdpro to find the directory where all of the listing files are located . Each cd usually has a separate directory for listing files for a particular BBS software. The listing files that Cdpro was designed for are Pcboard listing file format. When these listing files are located the manual mode can be used after the setup menu has been completed. Manual mode can be performed in two ways. The first way is to use the browse feature and to go thru each directory and tag each listing file that you want to have in a file library. When you come across a listing file that you want to use, hit enter to tag it. After you tag the file for processing, hit escape to continue on to the next next directory until all of the listing files that you want to use are tagged. The taglist is now ready for viewing or editing. To edit the tag list hit F4 the taglist will appear use the arrow keys to move to the selection that you want to edit and hit enter at this point you can edit the ASCII menu entry for this library , Library number and library path if necessary. After the taglist has been completed hit F10 to convert the listing files to Majorcd script file format .After the script file is complete refer back to Majorcd Manual or earlier in this guide for the procedure of logging in the finished script file. The easiest method for producing a script file is to enter the manual mode and hit F9 to autotag all of the listing files. After all of the listing files are tagged view the tag list and delete any libraries that are not desired by moving the highlight bar to the desired selection and hit DEL When all of the unwanted libraries are deleted press F5 to renumber the libraries. the menu listing can now be edited as explained above. Majorcd operation After the script file is complete you must login the cd using the offline utilities. Perform the following procedure. At the Dos prompt type cd\bbsv6 , c:\bbsv6>bbs,8. Using the Majorcd login utility login the script file. After the login utility is complete. It will be necessary to use the copy utility, to copy the btrieve files to your btrieve directory. After the btrieve files have been copied to the proper directory the only thing left to do is run cdcheck to verify the accuracy of the btrieve files just produced. If the check of the btrieve files indicates that the login process was successful, then the login process for this cd is complete. Upon completion of the login process a backup of the system btrieve files should be performed.
