Welcome to the remote USBBS List Update program.

This program will allow you to

  û add a new entry to the list
  û update an existing entry on the list
  û request deletion of an existing entry on the list


             WHY HAVE AN UPDATE PROGRAM?

The USBBS list is selective in the boards that it lists.
Through experience, we have found that messages sent to
the editor do NOT carry enough information to assure that
the board can be accurately listed.  This script assures that
complete information is collected and minimizes the time
spent communicating updates to the editor.

                HOW WILL IT WORK?

This program will append information to a text file "USBBS.DAT"
You can then mail this file to the address(es) supplied below or
upload it directly to BOBsBBS (916-929-7511).

To most effectively use this program, you should do the
following:

û Read the requirements for new boards on the list
û Have the most current edition of the USBBS list available
  and removed from the archive.  The file will be in the
  format USBBSxxx.LST where "xxx" is the edition number.

The program itself is a duplicate of the script on BOBsBBS
(916-929-7511).

                  HOW TO SEND THE UPDATE

This program produces the file USBBS.DAT. This file
contains the information necessary to update the board(s)
you have entered.

Mail or Upload USBBS.DAT by one of the following methods:

Internet Mail to:  bobsbbs!update@sactoh0.SAC.CA.US
Upload to       :  BOBsBBS (916-929-7511)
                   Upload to the special option in the
                   (O)ther BBS (P)hone list feature.

 *** DO NOT Compress USBBS.DAT when uploading it. ***

If all information is complete and the board is accepted,
it will be listed in the next version of the USBBS list
after the update is received.

A final note:  This list is updated as a HOBBY and public
service by Bob Breedlove.  Every attempt is made to make
sure that qualified boards are accurately and quickly updated.

The BEST way to assure that your board is considered is to call
BOBsBBS directly at 916-929-7511.  You can use the caller ID
"USBBS UPDATE" (no password) to update your BBS entry quickly and
easily.  You can also upload the UPDATE.DAT file produced by
USBBSUP from this menu.
