Thanks for your Interest in Becoming a HUB for SeekNet. As a HUB there are a few Rules that must be maintained for the smooth flow of mail through the System. First of All, be aware that The Network can handle either .qwk or FTS type mail packets. If there is a BBS that seeks to be a part of SeekNet but would like to use a front end program, Please direct them to get their mail from one of the FTS Sites listed in the Hubs.lst text file. The Seeker's Place, Darby, Pa. (610)-237-6628 1:273/412 GENERAL GUIDELINES! Any Network worth It's salt has Rules and we are no exception. We are trying to keep the rules to Simple Common Sense ones. We want the Net to be Informational and fun, but not Burdensome. Conferences are Topic Specific, but we will allow for deviation. For example; If someone is Talking Lan systems, in a Lan conference, and a user reponds that he has such a system and will sell it for x amount of Dollars. This is not an infraction of the rules (Since it "is" Topic specific). He will NOT have to go to The "For sale" conference and post. This "DOES NOT" mean that conferences can be filled with sales pitches or ads. The Key words here are "In the Course of the Conversation." Since This Network is for all and accessible by all, we do REQUIRE that the language be kept in a -- >"G"<-- rated mode. No adult ads are permitted on the Network. All Net sysops are required to carry 2 Conferences. The Net administration conference, and The General Mail Conference. The Administrative conference is for Net sysops Chat, exchange of ideas, and/or questions, suggestions for the Net. This conference "MUST" be "PRIVATE" and accessible only by Net Sysops and their co-Sysop/s. The General Mail Conference is Open to all. The Purpose of this conference is to let users have a open line to address anyone on "ANY" other bbs in the Net. It is also where notices of additional conferences, rules changes, new nodes, etc., will be placed for users. "EVERY" new node must carry these two conferences. There will be no Verbal assults on Individuals or Flaming allowed on the net. We Don't require, but we do request that nodes carry at least 10 SeekNet conferences. Aliases are NOT Permitted (Except in a Designated Conferences) No illegal acts of "ANY" kind will be permitted on The Net. Any Dispute that may arise between nodes or hubs will NOT be handled in public conferences but will be resolved by the two disputing parties and The SeekNet administrator, whose decisions are Final! Any Net Sysop knowing of anyone who wants to be a conference Moderator and is qualified, should contact the SeekNet administrator. ------------------------------------------------- We are Looking for more HUBS. Anyone interested must meet following requirements. 1.Must have a High speed Modem 2.Must carry all conferences 3.Must Echo to at least one Other BBS 4.Must not be in the Immediate area (code) of another Hub (without the first HUB's permission), THOUGH we encourage having Sub-Hubs to keep toll charges down. 5.Should make mail runs to The national Hub once every day, barring Emergencies. HUB RULES 1.ABSOLOUTLY NO Handles allowed in the Net. We Realize that this is not going to please some, but we are resigned to the fact that you can't please everyone! It is the Hubs responsibility to do his/Her best to make sure His Board and nodes under Him comply with these rules! 2.All New Conferences to be added to the Net must have the Approval of The SeekNet Administrator (Anthony Phillips). All Network Nodes may request additional conferences by leaving mail in the Net administration conference. 3.All Hubs adding new Nodes, must forward their applications (Minus Password) to the National Hub on the next available mail run via the Hubs conference. (Please notify us When a Node is no longer a part of SeekNet) 5.All mail to the Administration concerning Hub activities, Disputes or Nodes should come through the Hubs conference. 6.Hubs MUST make SURE that New Nodes have their SeekNet:Origin taglines in working order. They *MUST* include the word SeekNet, and a City, with Optional BBS name & number. It should look something like this.. wcGATE 4.0 = SeekNet: Acme Home BBS - Tulsa, Ok. (000)000-0000 or for FTS, something like... ORIGIN: SeekNet = Acme Home BBS - Tulsa, Ok. 0:/000/00 7.Hubs should call all new applicant's BBS, to verify they have applied, before giving access to the Net. 8.Regional Hubs cannot give out Node ID numbers. They will come directly from the National Hub once application is recieved. 9.Any node in constant violation of Network rules or guidelines will be given two warnings, after which further violations shall be considered Fatal. 10.Hubs must remove any node from the Network that the Net administrator deams in Fatal Violation. 11.Hubs should do their best to make sure all nodes under them follow the Rules and guidelines of SeekNet. 12.Hubs should Keep a "CURRENT" SeekNet Information file (SeekNet.zip) available for Download from his BBS. (Let's spread the word and grow Together) These rules are not burdensome but are required to keep control in the net, and for the smooth operation and easy transfer of EchoMail. Interested Parties should leave mail at the Seeker's Place BBS indicating that they have read the HubRules and agree to the guidelines set forth. Thanks again for your Interest in becoming a Hub for SeekNet! MODERATORS Moderators of SeekNet conferences are expected to be courteous, tactful, and not heavy handed, but they "DO" have the authority to deal with any unpleasantness, such as the use of obscenity, or personal attacks by one user against another. Abuse of a moderator will not be tolerated on the Net. A Moderators should have a working knowledge of the topic of the conference he wishes to moderate. The ideal person tries to make sure that discussions in the conference flows freely, and also may introduce topics of discussion. one of their primary duties is in steering those off-Topic discussions to a more appropriate conference. We have found that Moderators who treat people with respect, not always, but GENERALLY, gets respect in return. But as we have stated, "NO" abuse of a moderator will be Tolerated. Moderator Guidelines file (MODERATE.TXT) is available for downlod from address below. Anyone wishing to moderate a conference or has any questions about SeekNet, should contact the Network administrator (Anthony Phillips) via SeekNet Net sysops conference, general mail conference, or: BBS - (610)237-6628 FIDO - 1:273/412 SEEKNET - 120:120/0 INTERNET - anthony.phillips@seekers.com RIME/RelayNet - SEEKERS (Site #5516) v1.10
