K-TOOLS UTILITIES Copyright (c) 1994 by Rob McDonell, ARK ANGLES All Rights Reserved ENKRYPT - Encrypt File 1.1 This utility encrypts one or more files with a user supplied password, creating a new file or replacing the original file in the process. Files encrypted in this way must be decrypted using the corresponding DEKRYPT program from K-Tools Utilities, or by K-Tools Workplace version 2.0 or later. USEAGE: ENKRYPT [sourcedir]sourcefiles [[targetdir][targetfiles]] where: sourcedir is the location of the existing files, or the current directory if blank sourcefiles is the file to be encrypted, wildcards are accepted to specify multiple files targetdir is the destination location for the encrypted files, or the same directory if blank targetfiles is the new file name or names for the encrypted files, wildcards are allowed for partial renaming of multiple files, or blank if the names are to remain the same Note that if no target directory or file name is specified then the original files will be replaced by the encrypted versions. EXAMPLES: ENKRYPT MYFILE.TXT *.TXX will read MYFILE.TXT from the current directory and write an encrypted copy to MYFILE.TXX in the same directory ENKRYPT *.TXT *.TXX will read all .TXT files from the current directory and write encrypted copies to *.TXX in the same directory ENKRYPT \DIR1\*.* \DIR2 will read all files from the \DIR1 directory and write encrypted copies with the same name to the \DIR2 directory ENKRYPT MYFILE.DOC will encrypt MYFILE.DOC in the current directory in place ENKRYPT *.* will encrypt all files in the current directory in place When run, ENKRYPT will prompt you for a password, and then prompt again for the password to be entered a second time to ensure there has been no typing error. If the first entered password is blank, or the second password does not match the first password, then the encryption will be aborted. Note that the password is case sensitive, so the password "aaa" is not the same as "AAA". Passwords may be up to 255 characters in length. DO NOT FORGET THE PASSWORD. AN ENCRYPTED FILE CANNOT BE DECRYPTED WITHOUT IT. Files may be encrypted more than once with different passwords for even greater protection. Note that these files must then be decrypted using each password in the opposite sequence as when they were encrypted. Run ENKRYPT with no parameters or "?" or "/?" to display simple help and registration information. REGISTRATION: This program is part of the K-TOOLS UTILITIES shareware package. To keep using it after the 60 day trial period you must register, which costs only A$10 per utility or A$29, US$22, 15, Dm40, 2400 for the whole collection.
