World Cup Tile Set For Mahjongg By: Dr. Ray L. Morrison E-mail: midam1lb@ink.org World Cup soccer came to America in 1994. And it was very successful! As a soccer fanatic (player, coach, and parent of a premiere player), I was glued to the television set during every game of this series. My favorite team (Italy) lost in the finals in a shoot-out to Brazil, but that did not keep me from enjoying the World Cup. It was during that time, I began to play mahjongg on my computer and decided to combine the two into one project: a World Cup soccer mahjongg tile set. The following is a list of all 42 tiles. The 24 teams in the finals are represented with uniform, flag, and three-letter country abbreviation. There are sets of tiles for the final four games and the various locations. Finally, there are individual tiles for soccer related items such as the flag, trophy, soccer shoe, foul cards, etc. Tile No. Item 1 Columbia 2.
