How MicroCook has evolved.............. Version 1.2 - Released as shareware in September 1993. Original version. Version 1.3 - Released as shareware in November 1993. * Increased the capacity from 900 to about 2000 recipes per database. (Free RAM dependent.) * Added possibility to edit the recipes as they are imported. * Added Loading by recipe numbers, and displaying the recipe numbers in the Index listing. * Added Sort while in the Index. * Added variable width of the MC ASCII Export files. This is for BBS's where page width is narrower than 78 characters. * Added Status window where the number of recipes there are still room for in the current database is listed. (Bobby F. on GEnie received FREE registration for reporting the CGA lockup bug). * Changed some color combinations that was hard to see on low resolution CGA monitors. * Added a few screen savers, just for the fun of it. * Fixed bug that would mess up the default directory if MCOOK was entered as a directory in the PATH in AUTOEXEC.BAT * Fixed bug so MicroCook will work in OS/2. (Casey H. on CIS received FREE registration for reporting the OS/2 bug). * Plus improved and changed many small things here and there..... If ON, only the first letter in each word will be converted to upper case while the remaining letters are converted to lower case. This will work both in the editor and during all the imports. This option can be turned on or off in Setup. Version 1.36 - Maintenance release June 1994 * Fixed bug in Index Sort. When sorting after either Index View or Disk View, the main index array got "scrambled". It also required a new search since the search array was cleared. (Scott M. on Internet received a FREE registration for reporting this bug). Version 1.37 - Maintenance release September 1994 * Fixed bug in "Recipe Not saved" warning window. When 'F' was selected to bypass recipe save, the Edited flag did not reset. * Also added printing of the manual directly from Print Menu, and printing of the registration form. This last function is ONLY visible when the KEY file can't be found in the directory with MCOOK.EXE. (Terry M. on AOL had this idea. Thanks.) * Added Option to print Database name and recipe number on printout of recipe. See Setup (ALT-U) (R.W. on CIS had this request) * Changed Setup so if other than Default database is loaded and Setup is saved (F4), the default database is not loaded unless the path or database name is edited. * Added information regarding direct registration on CompuServe. A search on the word NUT with search on whole word will not find nutmeg or nuts, while search on syllable will find them. (Thanks to Charlie G. in Texas for asking for that feature) * Added "hot-key" for fast change between editors. CTRL-Arrow Up will move cursor the next editor up. CTRL-Arrow Down will move it to editor below the current. * Fixed "bug" in Index Select mouse routine. A double click on an index line will now react much faster when loading the recipe. * Added "beep" (If Sound ON in Setup) when using CTRL-PageUp or CTRL-PageDown, and you are at the end of the database and start over again. * Including over 2000 FREE recipes when registering. * Added a few new Screen Saver graphics. Version 1.50 - Release March 1995 * Added MasterCook II and MasterCook Mac ASCII Import. * Added separate conversion program for Edna's Cookbook ASCII recipes. * NEW, "cleaner" BBS friendly ASCII Export format. No more formatting codes or other "weird" characters in output ASCII file. V.1.5 will still import V.1.3 and V.1.2 MicroCook ASCII format. * Created left margin in printout so there's room to punch holes for 3-ring binder without cutting out text too. * Moved Screen savers out as separate EXE file, and (of course) added a several new screens. Without the screen saver activated in Setup (0 in time, or blank file name) there will be room for approx. 200 recipes more per database. You can also use an other screen saver you might have. See MCDOODLE.TXT for all the details. * Fixed bug in index and disk search so the recipe numbers will be displayed in the Index if activated. Many of these additions and improvements were suggestions from MicroCook users. So it help to "complain", plus it might result in a FREE registration if the bug has not been reported before. Together WE can make MicroCook better!
