USER INFORMATION:
----------------

        EchoMail sent on U'NI-net is sorted by "Conference" with each
        conference having an assigned topic and a "Conference Host"
        whose duty is to welcome new users, keep the conference
        messaging "on topic" and to provide user assistance when
        requested or needed.

        Conference Hosts are solicited by the Conference Coordinator
        who will in most cases post one or more public message(s) as
        new conferences are formed, when vacancies occur or as the
        need for a conference host (or co-host) arises.


CONFERENCE HOSTS:
----------------

        U'NI-net is a "distributor" of electronic mail, so it is
        not the job of the host to act in an editorial capacity.
        Rather, he or she welcomes new people to the conference
        and assists in keeping messages on-topic.

        Any caller may volunteer to host a U'NI-net conference.
        The most important duty of a host is to keep the conference
        friendly and on-topic.  Official conference hosts must be
        registered by their sysop in the UNI-HOST conference.
        This is where Hosts can come to find solutions to problems
        and answers to questions encountered in hosting.

        U'NI-net hosts are regarded by callers as the "good guy",
        however; from time to time a caller may behave in a manner
        which the host feels is counterproductive to the conference.
        Hosts are asked to stay clear of disputes with callers.  If
        a caller doesn't respond favorably to a friendly request,
        then the host should contact the Sysop of the BBS the caller
        is using.

        BBS names can be found in the message tagline.  Sysop names
        can be found in file UNIBBS.LST contained in the UNI###.ZIP 
        file. All U'NI-net Sysops and hosts have access to the UNI-NET
        administration conference, a semi-private conference where
        the host can contact a Sysop privately and request action to
        resolve user problems. We find that callers respond to their
        local Sysop quite well, and this keeps boring debates about
        how a situation is being handled out of the conference.

        If the problem continues after contacting the Sysop, the Host
        may make a formal request that the caller be suspended from
        the conference for a period not to exceed 30 days for the
        first offense.  If there is a second offense, the host may
        request a permanent suspension.  Network Sysops are obligated
        to honor the request of a host.

        If a user problem cannot be resolved through normal channels,
        we encourage the user to address the problem in the UNI-USERS
        conference by stating the facts in a message addressed to
        Jospeh Sheppard OR Network Host.

        There is no set term of duty for a host. The appointment may
        be cancelled by the U'NI-net administration. Hosts are asked
        to give reasonable notice to the network before resigning.
        Suggestions for replacement are greatly appreciated.

        Hosts should also read the text file UNICONF.DES which is a
        regularly maintained list of available conferences with a
        detailed description of the conference topic(s), the name
        of the conference host and the hosts' access point.
        Please examine the information for your conference(s) for
        accuracy and forward any request(s) for information change
        to Deborah Bolen.



NETWORK GUIDELINES:
-------------------

        It is recommended that conference hosts download file UNI###.ZIP
        and read the UNINET.TXT file. It contains the Network Guidelines
        which are always in force and apply to all users, Conference
        Guidelines which apply to all user activity within those
        conferences where guidelines have been established, and more
        information which may be of assistance to you.


CONFERENCE GUIDELINES:
---------------------

        In an effort to keep each conference on topic and minimize user
        distraction some areas have also Conference Guidelines in effect
        as follows:

           1) COLOR MESSAGES:
           The posting of messages which contain ANSI or other color
           code sequences is restricted to the ANSI-ART conference
           ONLY.  In this case the term "message" includes the header,
           body and any tagline(s) if used.

           2) FOR SALE or TRADE ITEMS:
           The posting of messages offering one or more items for sale
           or trade or for free are permitted only in the BUY-SELL and
           WORLDMARKET conferences subject to the following exception:
           
           A) FIREARMS and MUNITIONS:
              Firearms and/or munition offered for sale, trade or free
              will be posted in the GUNS conference ONLY.


        Where exception to the conference guidelines is reasonable, the
        Host should forward such request with details to the management
        team for consideration.
        One example is; the CD-ROM conference has arranged where CD
        drives and other CD related equipment may be posted for sale.
