>>> Sys Log! v1.2 <<< Copyright (c) 1995 Thomas J. Smith **** These are the quick start instructions for setting up SysLog **** 1 - Create a directory to hold the program, and unzip SYSLOG12.ZIP to the new directory, or move the unzipped files to this new directory. 2 - Change to the new Sys Log directory, and type SYS_LOG SETUP to create your configuration file. 3 - Add these lines to your existing door batch files, cd\sys_log ---> Change to the SYS Log directory. sys_log Food_Fight ---> Run SYS_LOG.EXE with the command line being the name of the door that is about to be run. No spaces are allowed in the door name, use underscores, or dashes. 4 - Add the above lines to any other doors you want tracked that you add after the installation. It is suggested that you run the SysLog program BEFORE the actual door in the door batch files. 5 - Thats it! You're set to go! Upgrading from a Prior Version ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ 1> Unzip SYSLOG12.ZIP to your existing Sys Log directory, OVERWRITING existing files. 2> Type SYS_LOG SETUP to create a new configuration file. 3> v1.1 added the ability to create an ANSI display file, for you to view while logged on to your Board. In my hurry to release v1.1, I forgot to add the ability to insert a Pause Code in to the ANSI file, so you could view it without it scrolling up the screen before you can see anything! This was fixed in v1.2. I also forgot to change version numbers in the SLSETUP.EXE program for v1.1. It still reads v1.0, when it should say v1.1. This was fixed in v1.2. 4> If you wish, you may delete the SLSETUP.EXE program, and use it internally by typing SYS_LOG SETUP on the command line. Of course you may still use the SLSETUP.EXE instead, it will still work, as the configuration file is still the same. **************************** END OF QUICK.TXT ******************************
