******* THE I-MAIL MESSAGER ******* HOW TO UPGRADE TO 1.06b FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION Upgrading from any previous version is a few easy steps. There is one addition to be added to your imail.cfg data file, plus you must replace your existing version with the new release. If you are upgrading from less than 1.05a all the help files must be replaced as well. Do this only when there are NO users in the program. 1) Choose The Program Version & Changed Help Screens You Need. A) IMAIL.401 - For Wildcat 4.01 B) IMAIL.410 - For Wildcat 4.10 2) Copy The Version You Need To Your I-MAIL Directory A) Change to your I-MAIL directory using the DOS CD command. Example - CD\WILDCAT\IMAIL . B) Copy the program file from the temporary directory where you "unzipped" our compressed file, to the IMAIL directory. Example - COPY C:\TEMP\IMAIL.410 NOTE: If you are running DOS 6.0 or higher it will ask to confirm overwriting the existing files-Answer Y For Yes 3) Copy These Files Over Your Existing IMAIL.WCX Program COPY IMAIL.410 IMAIL.WCX Or COPY IMAIL.401 IMAIL.WCX NOTE: If you are running DOS 6.0 or higher it will ask to confirm overwriting the existing files-Answer Y For Yes 4) Edit Your IMAIL.CFG Data File To Add Your Own Internet Domain Name On LINE 6 if upgrading from less than 1.05a A) Change to your WILDCAT directory using the DOS CD command. Example - CD\WILDCAT . B) Using DOS's EDIT.COM or a similiar program edit this file putting your own domain name on line 6 (i.e. challenge.com) It may be typed in upper or lower case as the I-Mail Messager is set to handle either. See the sample IMAIL.CFG included with this zip if you are unsure about this step. 5) If you are upgrading from less than 1.05a you must replace all the help files. A) Change to your I-MAIL directory using the DOS CD command. Example - CD\WILDCAT\IMAIL . B) Copy all the .bbs files to your IMAIL directory Example - COPY C:\TEMP\*.BBS C) copy all the help files specific to the version you are using (.401 or 4.10 Example - COPY C:\TEMP\*.410 D) Overwrite the existing help files for the version you are using At the DOS prompt (be in the IMAIL directory type SET401 Or SET410 NOTE: If you are running DOS 6.0 or higher it will ask to confirm overwriting the existing files-Answer Y For Yes 6) The files IMGUIDE.TXT and IMGUIDE.BUL - The I-Mail Messager User Guides have been updated as well because of the Read & Reply feature. If you are posting these files for your users please overwrite your existing ones.
