CLIPBOARD EXTENDER 3.0 INSTALLATION Clipboard Extender requires Windows 3.1 or later. As it is written in Visual Basic 3.0, the VB runtime module is also required. This file can be found on virtually every national online network, and most local Bulletin Board Systems. Please read this entire file before installing Clipboard Extender. Thank you for evaluating Clipboard Extender. INSTALLATION 1. Ensure that the following files are included in your copy of the ZIP and that they have all been unzipped to a TEMPORARY directory or a blank floppy disk. Do NOT unzip these files to the directory that Clipboard Extender will be installed to. Some of these files are only needed for the setup program. setup.exe -the setup program clipext.ex_ -the executable file clipext.hl_ -the Windows help file clipext.wr_ -the documentation file subez.vb_ -a custom control file cmdialog.vb_ -Windows common dialog box interface readme.txt -introduction file changes.txt -summary of changes from version 2.1 file_id.diz -BBS description file setupkit.dll -required file for setup program only ver.dll -required file for setup program only Also required, but not included in order to minimize the download time, is the vbrun300.dll file. If you don't already have this file, it can be downloaded from most bulletin boards. Place this file in your Windows\System directory. Once you have vbrun300.dll, you can run all other programs written with Visual Basic 3.0: you only need one copy of it, as long as it is in the \System directory. NOTE: Many programs were (or are) written with Visual Basic 1.0 and require the vbrun100.dll runtime module or, with Visual Basic 2.0 and require the vbrun200.dll runtime module. These programs will not work with vbrun300.dll and programs written with Visual Basic 3.0 will not work with vbrun100.dll. or vbrun200.dll. You must have the runtime module which corresponds to the version of Visual Basic the program was written with. Documentation for any program written with Visual Basic should clearly state which version of the runtime module is required. 2. After verifying that vbrun300.dll is properly installed in your Windows\System directory, run the setup.exe program included in the ZIP. Clipboard Extender must be installed using the setup program, as most of the files are compressed. You cannot simply copy the files to a directory. NOTE: setup.exe will not run if vbrun300.dll is not properly installed first. 3. Follow the instructions and prompts in the Setup program to complete the installation. 4. When Setup has completed, you can delete the source files in the temporary directory. Clipboard Extender runs minimized by default. If the program does not appear to be running, but can be accessed by Alt-Tabbing and appears in the Task List, you are probably running Program Manager (or another program) full screen, which is covering up Clipboard Extender's icon. Either minimize Program Manager or restore it to a smaller window by clicking on the double-ended arrow in the upper right corner. For detailed information on how to use Clipboard Extender, see the CLIPEXT.WRI file.
