Descriptions and system requirements for the software appear later in this document. Oriana may be freely copied and distributed, so long as the following conditions are met: 1) The program must be distributed in its entirety. All the files listed in the FILES.LST file must be included. 2) The program and documentation files must not be modified in any way. In particular, all copyright messages must remain intact. 3) A fee may be charged for distribution so long as you clearly explain the shareware concept to recipients. You must make it clear to users that they are buying an evaluation copy of the program and that they are required to register the program with Kovach Computing Services if they intend to continue using it. You must not describe the software as "free" or "public domain". 4) The documentation files must not be distributed in printed form. 5) Distribution in retail environments requires prior written permission from Kovach Computing Services. Short description: Oriana - Circular/orientation stats for Windows, ver. 1.0 Medium Description: Oriana for Windows ver. 1.0 calculates the special forms of sample and inter-sample statistics required for circular data (e.g. directional data or time of day). It also graphs your data in a variety of ways, allowing you to easily demonstrate patterns. Oriana calculates the circular mean, length of the mean vector, circular standard deviation and standard error, 95% and 99% confidence limits, and Rayleigh's test of uniformity for each sample in your data file. Pairs of samples can be compared with Watson's F-test for two circular means. The overall distributions of two samples can be compared with Chi-squared tests. The data for each sample can be summarised with rose diagrams or circular histograms as well as linear histograms. The individual observations can be shown in raw data plots. Uniformity plots allow you to assess whether the data depart from a uniform distribution. Long Description: Are you working with directional data measured in degrees? Perhaps your research involves looking at patterns in the time of day of events. These are circular data and require special types of statistics. If you want to analyse this type of data, then Oriana is just what you need. Oriana calculates the special forms of sample and inter-sample statistics required for circular data. Oriana can analyse up to 16,380 samples and 65,534 observations per sample, given adequate memory and disk space. The data for each sample can be summarised with rose diagrams or circular histograms as well as linear histograms. The individual observations can be shown in raw data plots. Uniformity plots allow you to assess whether the data depart from a uniform distribution. You can also choose any Windows font to use for the title and axis labels, as well as specifying a variety of other options. Oriana is a true Windows program, designed to be easy to use and compatible with your other Windows applications. It remembers your previous choice of options, so that subsequent analyses can be done in just a couple of mouse clicks or key presses. Oriana uses the new KCS desktop metaphor. You can spread out your data, the statistical results and several graphs in front of you while you study them, just like paper on your desktop. Try new graphs, add new data, peruse the results, then print or save just those that you need. When you exit Oriana you can save the position and contents of all the windows on your desktop. Later you can restore it to the same state. Oriana lets you pick up where you left off. Multiple desktops can be saved for different projects. Requirements: Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher, PC compatible computer with 80386SX or better, 2Mb RAM memory, 2.5 Mb disk space.
