QSORT.EXE Version 1.01 By Mike Reveile QSORT is a very useful little Windows sort utility for anyone who keeps a lot of lists like I do. All the books on your bookshelves, all the tapes in your video collection, and all the records or CD's in your rack can easily be kept in lists inside your computer and sorted whenever you add or subtract from them to keep them organized. Sure, DOS has a sort program, but if I wanted to work in the DOS environment, I wouldn't have purchased Windows, and setting up the DOS sort program to work in a window is kind of like taking two steps back instead of one step forward. Yes, I have a database program for windows, but why use a huge application when a small one will work just fine... and faster. Yes, it even works in conjunction with Excel and Word for Windows. When you register QSORT, it will create a file called QSORT.INI in your windows directory, where it will keep your registration number. This file must not be deleted or given away to anyone. It may, however but backed-up for archival purposes. After QSORT is registered, it will handle lists up to 8000 lines in length or 65000 bytes long and the AUTO function will work. Until then it is limited to 200 lines. QSORT sorts the clipboard contents, so if I am listing a few things in a document and add or subtract one or two of them, it's an easy thing to mark them, copy them to the clipboard, get QSORT to grab and sort them, and copy them back into my document. The QSORT controls are pretty straight forward so that there is no HELP button in the program. 1 You can sort by any column in the data, and limit the column width of the data that is sampled as well. 2 You can sort numbers with plus and minus signs. {Sorry, but QSORT does not have the ability to ignore dollar signs yet, it might go in the next version, but for now, columnize them and set the sort column past them.} 3 You can have it eliminate the blank lines in the data as it reads from the clipboard. 4 You can have it trim off the leading or trailing spaces as it reads from the clipboard. 5 You can sort ignoring or respecting the case of the letters. 6 And of course it will sort into ascending or descending orders. 7 Automatic mode: (Registered version only) You set up the defaults and simply press Alt-A, the contents of the clipboard are grabbed, sorted and replaced. Makes operation very simple. Sorry, but QSORT only understands valid DOS-type CR/LF combinations, this may change with the next version. QSORT requires that it's runtime library: VBRUN100.DLL (not included in the distribution package because you can get it everywhere) be in the path, preferably in the Windows directory. QSORT is Shareware, and as such, you may distribute it freely as long as you distribute the original ZIP file only. You may not sell QSORT without my written consent, but you may where applicable, charge a nominal fee for duplication. Try QSORT for 30 days, and if you're not happy with it, give it away to somebody else and don't ever use it again. But if you find that it's a handy little Windows tool, and you continue to use it, please register it by sending me $20.00 in U.S. funds along with a self- addressed-stamped-envelope, and I'll send you a registration number. I don't promise to provide support of any kind for this product, however if you are a registered user, and have questions or suggestions, you can write to me at the below address or send me EMail at: LSCC@ix.netcom.com Questions about Site Licensing Discounts can also be send to me via either Snail-Mail (the U.S. Postal Service) or Email.
