Announcement of NetTerm 2.1 for Microsoft Windows Houston, Texas, July 31, 1995 -- InterSoft International, Inc announces the new release of NetTerm 2.1 for Windows. NetTerm is a Windows 3.x and Windows 95 compatible program which offers the following: 1. On-line phone book for both Unix telnet and bulletin boards. 2. Supports both VT100 and ANSI terminal emulation with full color and ANSI graphics. Automatic switching between vt100 and ANSI escape sequences. 3. User defined number of scroll back lines. 4. Support for the popular Trumpet TCPIP stack. 5. Scripting language for automatic login, setting up custom programs such as Trumpet and detection of Internet provider IP addresses. 6. Built in phone dialer. 7. Every key can be defined as to what it sends to the host. You can even define keys such as F1-F12 to send long strings such as 'FTP FTP.MICROSOFT.COM'. 8. File transfers using zmodem and Kermit. 9. Easy modem setup and initializing. 10. Supports corporate PIN numbers as part of the dialing string. InterSoft International, Inc. is one of the first to provide Zmodem file transfer for both dialup and local ethernet connections. This means you can connect to your Unix based systems, and transfer files with Zmodem whether you are at the office or on the road. For developers of WWW home pages, it provides a flexable easy way to access an Internet account, with SLIP, PPP or a shell account and perform file transfers. The following zmodem file transfer rates were obtained on a 66MHZ 486 processor using a US Robotics Sportster 28.8 modem. The windows communications driver was replaced with cybercom.drv for high speed modem operation. The Trumpet winsock provided SLIP/PPP and locally attached ethernet support. The modem connection was via SLIP, the locally attached ethernet was via odipkt and winpkt. Modem data compression was enabled, as is reflected in the extremely high data rates for the text file tests. All numbers are expressed in bytes per second. ___________________________________________________________________ Uploading to a UNIX System SLIP/Modem Ethernet SHELL/Modem Text File 7,100 100,000 1,700 ZIP file 2,900 110,000 1,300 ___________________________________________________________________ Downloading from a UNIX System SLIP/Modem Ethernet SHELL/Modem Text File 7,800 60,000 10,200 ZIP file 2,400 60,000 3,100 ___________________________________________________________________ The Trumpet network values were: Dialup Local Ethernet ______________________________ MTU 1,006 1,500 RWIN 4,024 11,680 MSS 966 1,460 ___________________________________________________________________ NetTerm provides an extremely easy to use program for your dialer, telnet, bulletin board and file transfer needs in one simple user interface.
