What Is The Peoples Network?
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
   Well as corny as it may sound, The Peoples Network is an Echo Mail
Network for Sysops who want to be involved in the direction and the
content of the network. As the name implies it is The Peoples Network
run by the people and for the people.

   The Sysops that began The Peoples Network, recently dropped out of
an Echo Mail Network, because they found as the network was starting to
grow, the originator of that network, wanted to single handedly rule
and make rules for the network, not allowing the participating sysops
to make any decisions that affected them and the network as a whole.

   You will find that The Peoples Network is a team of Sysops all
working as one body to run an Echo Mail Network for the benefit of all
systems involved. We will strive to run The Peoples Network as a
democratic organization, where no one person controls the system.
Questions and changes to the network structure and operation will always
be put to a vote, where the majority rules.

   The great thing about this network is simple, if you want to be
involved and work for the network the option is there, if you want to be
passive (lurker) and just enjoy the echo mail, thats fine too, although
we would hope that every Peoples Network Sysop would want to be involved.

Why Should I Join The Peoples Network When there are so
many other networks around like FIDO, RIME, City2City etc.?
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
   This is a question that only you can answer. The peoples network has
sensible guidelines to make an echo mail network run for the good of
everyone. Any other guidlines that may need to be created or changed
as we grow will be democratically made by a vote between all the
involved sysops. This network will accept any willing systems that do
not want to deal with other networks strict rules and un-friendly
atmosphere. What we are promoting here is a friendly, easy going,
Echo Mail Network.
 
Will I Have To Make A Long Distance Call To A Hub?

   We will be making it as easy as possible to hook all systems into The
Peoples Network. You may even be asked to be a HUB to make a new systems
call for mail a local, less costly call, and with all hopes we will be
nationwide within a few years. There will be network structural changes
from time to time, we will deal with them as a group, working as one,
for the betterment of the network, as we grow.

So How Do I Join The Peoples Network?
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
   Simply review the file contained in this packet called GUIDE.TXT,
fill out the file called PEOPLE.APP, then call one of the bbs systems
at the bottom of this text and leave a message to the Sysop with
your information and we will contact you within a few days or so
depending on our workload. We all have real jobs too. <grin>
 
   Let Us just make clear that The Peoples Network will be run by
majority rule. The network coordinators are in place simply for
adminitrative purposes only. When questions or problems arise they will
conduct votes by netmail and tally up the results to what has been
discussed in the Admin conferences. Every system has a vote that counts!
 
This network is for the people and by the people (YOU).
NO SINGLE PERSON OWNS OR CONTROLS THIS NETWORK.
