 take a cake pan and grease it with margerine.
 line the bottom of the pan with pineapple rings
 put a half a marachino cherry into the hole of each pineapple ring with
the flat side of the cherry facing you (rounded side  down)
 pour  brown sugar over the  pineapple and cherrys (probably 1 to 2 cups)
as much or as little as you want, it doesn't matter. about 1/4 depth
is pretty good
 prepare a cake mix according to directions and pour the batter over the
brown sugar
 bake according to instructions on the cake package
 cool cake and turn out onto a cooling rack
 if you have a  spring pan, which is a cake pan that you can remove the
bottom from, that works really well. pineapple upside down cake is easier
to make than it looks like. lemme know how it comes out
