Fill a jar loosely with sprigs of fresh mint (uncrushed) and cover with the cooled syrup. Cap and refrigerate 12 to 24 hours. Discard the mint and make one julep at a time. Fill the julep cup with finely crushed ice, pour in syrup and Kentucky whiskey. Frost a cup, stick in a sprig of mint and serve at once.
