--------------------------------------------------------------------- TiC's WAD Review --------------------------------------------------------------------- In irregular intervals I will review a few PWADs. All reviews are totally subjective, I'll not beautify anything! If you have any suggestions, ideas or whatever; e-mail me at: denis@doomsday.shnet.org All files can be found on ftp.cdrom.com and its mirror sites. DON'T ASK ME TO SEND YOU ANY FILES NOR WHERE TO GET THEM. If you want me to review a special PWAD - email me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Review date: 1. May 95 Review No.: 1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: Illusions Of Home Game: Doom Filename: ILUSORY1.ZIP Size: 520k Author: Brett Librandi e-mail: brianl@ilx.com Maps: E1M1-E3M9 (27) Type: normal levels Sounds: No Graphics: No Music: No [ Level construction ] ---------------------------------------------- Mostly one way, a room, some stairs, some more rooms. Lifts, doors etc., no special effects. [ Texture design ] -------------------------------------------------- A lot of misaligned textures, extreme use of light-effects (very dark & blinking or very light). Switches mostly don't fit, tele- porters and other important floor & ceiling textures are wrong. Door sizes are okay, but the sides are moving, sometimes a door is opening into heaven. [ Bugs ] ------------------------------------------------------------ A few Tutti-Frutties. Many totally misaligned textures. [ Enemies ] --------------------------------------------------------- Enough, but haphazardly placed. (Open a door, kill them, open another, kill them all again etc.) [ Things ] ---------------------------------------------------------- Enough health, too easy in UV. Only a few things placed atmos- pheric, mostly just to get something. Illogical key-placement (depends on level construction). [ Scoring ] --------------------------------------------------------- 19% NOT worth downloading! I recommend the author to read the 'Doom Hacker's Guide' AND the WAD designers handbook. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
