README.TXT - Installation and license information, documentation. Disclaimer: This is not written by the original autor of ISDNpm. A friend of mine discovered ISDNpm in a German BBS, we tried it, it worked and now I am spreading it all over the internet =). I was not able to contact the autor, yet, as (s)he seems to have no e-mail address (yet?). I know that this a a long-awaited tool to all the ISDN Users out there and I just translated the original documentation, adding some information I discovered and I find useful. I will answer questions to the features I have tested myself and will pass all upcoming letters of complaints and horray-shouting to the autor. So all errors in the english documentation are due to my bad english, me not understanding the original docu and so on. There will be out a version with better documentation as soon as I have contacted the autor. I hope (s)he forgives me. Hendrik H. Fulda License Statement ------ This program is shareware. You will receive a registration-key that permits you to use this program on one system at a time. For communication between two systems you do need two licenses! (or connect to a system using a different program) You are using this programm at your own risk. Watch your phone-bill! The autor is not liable for errors, damages to your system, the phone system or the software you use. Beware! Yor CAPI may be faulty, the IBM C compiler definitely is faulty and IP programming is not documented as one may whish in OS/2. Finally, ISDN itself may trick on you. [Note by the translator: The programm is up and running for about two days now, but I am liable for nothing, too =) ] General ----------- ISDNpm is an addition or alternative to SLIPPM of the IAK or SLIPTERM of the IBM TCP/IP 2.0. It will establish an IP connect via ISDN to your ISP or any other institution/person accepting IP-DialIn over ISDN. ISDNpm needs an ISDN card with a CAPI version compliant with V.1.1 of the CAPI specifications. Installation ------------ By unzipping the package, you will get the following files: README.TXT - this file, by hhf@teamos2.de README.GER - the original README.TXT README2.GER - my german announcement, some additional configuration info. ISDN11.EXE - the main program ISDNSET.CMD - optional script for setting up the IP interface and routes ISDN.CFG and ISDNUSER.CFG - the configuration files, altered by hhf@teamos2.de, now including english comments ISDNPM.TXT - short description in english, by hhf@teamos2.de ISDNPM.GER - original description that came with the file, maybe _not_ from the autor her/himself Place ISDN11.EXE and ISDNSET.CMD in any directory stated in your PATH variable. /TCPIP/BIN recommended. Place ISDN.CFG and ISDNUSER.CFG in your /TCPIP/ETC dir. The ISDN CAPI must be installed and running ok. Configuration ------------- In ISDN.CFG, general information for the ISDN Interface and ISDNpm is stated. In ISDNUSER.CFG you have to set up ISDN "users", that is, ISDN and IP configuration-information sets for different users or ISP's. Right now, you have to edit the files themself with some ASCII editor like "E.EXE" or "TEDIT.EXE". You will have to configure ISDN.CFG for the used MTU, your registration key (if you have any), the name and number of the IP interface and maybe something else. In general, the defaults should be OK. In ISDNUSER.CFG you will have to specify a name for the connection(s) and place your IP-Configuration (IP-Address of loval and remote host etc.), the telephone numbers and the protocol you plan to use. Look into the files for additional information. Using ISDNpm --------- Simply start ISDN11.EXE. From STARTUP.CMD, by placing a programm-icon in the startup-folder or by putting it into TCPSTART.CMD or SETUP.CMD. You will then be able to manually start a TCP/IP connection to the different "users" you have set up in ISDNUSER.CFG. You are also able to manually invoke execution of ISDNSET.CMD with the parameters of the selected user. Right now, all configuration data is taken from ISDNUSER.CFG and all other checkboxes are passive and will not alter ISDNUSER.CFG. You can also manually HangUp a selected line. In the Trace Window, you are able to monitor messages by the CAPI, IP, PPP and ISDN itself. Default is only Connection Information. ISDN Data is only recommended for debugging reasons. It will slow doen the systeme considerably. Some technical data ---------------- ISDN pm runs with TCPIP 2.0 and the IAK of Warp. Be shure to apply the latest fixpaks for TCIP/IP 2.0 (available from ftp.pcco.ibm.net) By design, ISDN pm runs with all ISDN cards coming with a V.1.1 compliant CAPI. However, ISDNpm has been successfully tested with ISDN cards of the following manufacturers: Diehl SCOM, SX, Diva, S2m NCP P16 Teles 8/16-Bit with CAPI-Version 2.97 Creatix 16-Bit with Teles-Capi V. 2.97 Some ISDN manufacturers implement special funktions so that ISDNpm will not run. If you encounter such an ISDN card (and the CAPI _is_ said to be V.1.1 compliant), please leave a mail. History -------- Version 2.0 This is the first version with PM Interface. New: - Support of disfferent IPS's and Sub-Nets via HOSTLIST and EXCLUDELIST. - Manual Dial and Hangup via PM Interface - Hangup via TIMEOUT Version 2.0 is the first version made availabe as shareware to more than a few people. [Notice by the translator: I hope (s)he does not shoot me for putting it on the internet =) ] Support via e-mail is coming soon. [Notice by the translator: If you do not bother not talking to the original autor, you can e-mail me, I will forward it to the autor, as soon as I know how to reach her/him.
