The Alien Clock WELCOME ======= Welcome! If you have been to a new age electronic store recently you have probably seen a clock called the alien clock. My alien clock looks and works exactly the same as the one you see in the stores. In this zip file you will find two .EXE's. One is a dos program written in QuickBASIC and the other is a Windows program written in Borland C++. This is the first version (yes version 1.0). Keep a watch in the near future for newer versions of the Windows version. READING THE CLOCK ================= This clock is based on each color having a numeric value. Green = 1, Red = 5 and Yellow = 10. The 6 green lights on the bottom represent the seconds in binary format. The horizontal row of 4 green and 2 red led's represent the hours. If there is one red and two green lights on then the hour is 7. The five yellow lights represent the tens part of the minutes. The 5 vertical lights (one red and 4 green) represent the ones part of the minutes. For example: If there are 2 Yellow Lights, 1 Red Light and 3 Green Lights the minutes would be 28. At first it is difficult to read the clock but after a few tries you will find it as easy to read as your regular clock. It makes for a great conversation piece. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE DOS AND WINDOWS VERSION =============================================== Other than the language difference there are a few other noticible differences. The most obvious one is the date. The DOS version contains a date on the screen to the left of the time. The windows version does not yet contain the date. The date is read just like the clock. Each color has it's own numeric value. Again, Green = 1, Red = 5 and Yellow = 10. There are 4 columns of lights. The first is the month, the second is the day and the last 2 columns make up the year. Another difference is the AM/PM indicator. The alien clock for DOS has a AM/PM indicator. You will notice the circle on the right side of the screen. As the hour increases the circle continues to fill up. At the noon hour the circle starts to fill with yellow instead of cyan. When this starts to happen it is After Noon or PM. FUTURE VERSIONS =============== The DOS version will probably never go any further that it currently has. But the Windows version will continue on it's journey. This initial release was to get feedback on the clock. Future releases will contain the date and possibly the AM/PM indicator. Currently you cannot resize the window (future enhancement). I have other ideas for clock and will probably include in this clock the other ideas selectable from a menu. Here is a short list of future enhancements: Title Bar on/off Resizable Window Display Date on/off Display AM/PM on/off Modern Version Digital Version Sport Version New Clocks! RIGHTS ====== I am not the creator of the original Alien Clock so I can take no credit for it. Enjoy this way cool clock...
