DDFMAKER.EXE - DDF Maintenance Utility -------------------------------------- To add definitions for your own EXISTING Btrieve(t) databases, simply follow the following steps. Steps: 1. Place all the files from the zip file into a common directory. Do Not Have Multiple copies of DDF around Hard Disk. C:\WINDOWS or F:\PUBLIC are as good as any. 2. DDFMAKER is a dos application but can be safely executed from within windows. Commands are pretty much self-evident but here goes anyway. Choose an existing ddf entry or select create. Enter a unique Text describing the database (ie. Employees). Enter Location eg. Drive\Path\filename.ext of your database. When editing ddf lines takes you to command mode. Commands:- 'U' Update DDF File 'R' Remove Complete DDF File Entry. eg. header and lines. & Remove & Insert DDF lines. 'C' Allows modification to Header. 'A' Amends line. Tip of the day - Do Not Remove or modify the Control Records. Eg. X$File, X$Field, X$Index as this will screw things right up !!! You should now be able to run MS-ACCESS or whatever package needs DDF files to access your Btrieve data. ********************************************************************** (DDFMAKER.EXE is SHAREWARE), But if you find it useful and would like to be kept on an upgrade list to receive enhancements when they are released please send 10.00 pounds Sterling to: W.
