THE NUMBERS GAME June 14, 1995 This is a little game I created originally for my own children. Basically, it has the four mathematical functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It provides for various levels of difficulty starting at the Kindergarten Level which, of course, is Level I, right on up to the Expert Level where I run out of fingers and toes. It also asks the children how many games they wish to play at any one time. In the end, the correct responses are tallied up and a decision is made at the 75% level as to whether or not the child is to pass. The nice part about this game is that it is all set to music and it is fun and challenging for the children, but terribly difficult for me. Version 2.3 puts prompts into the game at the end of each iteration allowing the child to see whether or nor he or she was right or wrong. If the child inputted the wrong answer, the correct answer is displayed providing the opportunity to see exactly what went wrong. Afterwards, of course, another song is played. Now this is shareware, and if you would like to become an owner and be entitled to the more recent updates as well as the privilege of corresponding with me, please send $15 to: STEPHEN W. HARTMAN 68 WESLEYAN RD. SMITHTOWN, NY 11787 516-543-3350 P.S. I feel very fortunate that The Numbers Game has sold numerous copies throughout the world. The more interest I see in my work, the more encouraged I am to continue doing this kind of stuff! I might also point out that I have developed a multi-player version of the Numbers game where up to eight children can play simultaneously. The game keeps track of the score for each child and allows the final scores to be printed out as well as being displayed. The multi-player version is suitable for teams of children to compete together in a friendly rivalry. It is suitable for schools or other settings where groups of children are interacting together.
