The GMUtant Editor version 1.03 =========================================== (c) 1995, Clyde W. Grotophorst, GMUtant Software This is an ASCII editor that provides you a bit more functionality than the Windows notepad. Hope you find the program useful. Feel free to distribute it to others if they have a need for an ASCII editor that: - edits files of almost unlimited size. - supports drag & drop movement of text within a document - supports fixed as well as proportional fonts - supports column mode with fixed font (e.g., SYSTEM) - offers find and replace - supports multi-level "undo" - allows you to edit several files simultaneously - supports changing fonts - supports the clipboard - offers a toolbar for easy access to most options - provides a rudimentary printing option and more... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- update note: Release 1.03 improves printing. Earlier releases could not print a new file from the edit window--if it said "New File" on the title bar, the editor wouldn't print it. There's still much room for improvement in printing support so stay tuned. ------- A Visual Basic application, the GMUtant Editor is based on the Early Morning Editor Control, distributed via SHAREWARE by Ted Stockwell (Compuserve ID 74454,1002). If you're a VB programmer in need of a text control, the $ 30.00 you spend to register Mr. Stockwell's work is money well spent. Here are the files included with the GMUtant Editor: GMUEDIT.EXE - the program CMDIALOG.VBX - the common dialog control EMEDIT.VBX - the early morning editor control VBRUN300.DLL - the VB 3.0 runtime DLL (this is not included in all versions of the ZIP file) GMUEDIT.TXT - this text file. A configuration file (GMUEDIT.INI) is created in your Windows directory (typically C:\WINDOWS). Here's what's contained there: [Recent Files] this lists the full path to the 4 files you've edited most recently. They show up under the FILE menu on the main editing window RecentFile1= RecentFile2= RecentFile3= RecentFile4= [Font Info] if you ask GMUEDIT to store the font you select as your default font, the info is written here. A "-1" value means true, a "0" means false. FontName=MS Sans Serif FontSize=10 FontBold=-1 FontItalic=0 [WindowPosition] This is where we store your main window size and postion. Anytime you Set Window Position this info is updated. Top=2865 Height=8085 Left=1905 Width=9120 [Miscellaneous] LeftMargin= put a number from 0 to whatever here. This one you have to do manually. Affects the onscreen display, not the printout! ShowToolBarOnStartup= Yes or No. This gets set one way or the other each time you turn the toolbar on or off via the options menu. Turn off the toolbar and this will be set to "No." Assuming you don't turn it back on during a session, it will be off when you next start the program.
