1. About the VirOverseer


1.1 Main features

  VirOverseer is a TSR program, that protects your machine from viruses.
Once the VirOverseer is active, no virus can get into the memory, so it's 
useful to start it in the autoexec.bat. When the program detects a virus, 
it alerts the user BEFORE any infection and stops the running task, 
making any virus activity impossible.


1.2 The mechanism

  The VirOverseer handles the known and unknown viruses in different ways.

  Known viruses are identified by their signatures, so they can be caught and
killed in the usual way.

  Unknown viruses are identified by their work: for example if a program sets
the INT 21h to itself, and transforms an incoming 4Bh (execute a command) 
function to 3Dh and 40h (open a file and write to a file) it must be a virus
and it can be stopped BEFORE the infection. When the VirOverseer 
is resident in  the memory, it effectively blocks ALL attempts to infect 
any file with a virus.


1.3 The difference between VirOverseer and other virus scanners/killers

  The program isn't a heuristical scanner to search for infected files or 
file changes. The purpose of this program is not to repair the virus 
activity, but to prevent the virus from getting into the memory.

In Hungary, which is a small country, over 4000 copies of VirOverseer 
have sold, and it is used by some important government institutes like 
Customs police or the second biggest electric current supplier in Hungary.
