Wallpaper Random Selector. This utility will allow you to select your favourite wallpapers and have one randomly chosen each time you start windows. They can also be set so that particular wallpapers will be selected on particular days. If you have any comments or queries, I can be reached by e-mail:- jleith@dircon.co.uk I can be reached by post at Cheltenham Sea Cadets at the address below. This program is charityware, if you find the program useful or you are just a nice person, send a donation (I suggest 10 pounds sterling, but you judge how much you think the program is worth) to:- The Cheltenham Sea Cadet Corps, Stoneville Street, Cheltenham, England, GL50 I am writing this in September 1995, if you are reading it far into my future it will be safe to assume that Cheltenham Sea Cadets (T.S. Legion) are still at the above address, they have been there since 1947, so a few more years is going to make no difference. Installation: Copy Decor.Exe to your hard disk. Make a new program group, by selecting File/New from the program managers menu. Now make two new Icons in this group, Select File/New from program manager, use browse to find Decor.Exe, select this, in the description box type 'Setup', Leave the Working Directory field blank, now select Change Icon, you will see three Icons which are meant to represent 1. wallpaper being hung on a blank wall 2. wallpaper being hang over the top of other wallpaper 3. stacked rolls of wallpaper as far as the Icons go, sorry but I did my best. Select one of these icons or browse through moreicons.dll. Once you have selected an icon press Ok. Select File/New and do everything the same as before, but this time the description is 'Change' and when you select Wallp as the program add a space and the word 'Change' to the end of the command line box. The change program can be put in your startup group so that every time you start windows the wallpaper will change. The important thing here is that without the command line option (Change) the program runs and allows you to setup the wallpapers selections, with the command line option the program randomly selects your wallpaper. It is important to run setup at least once, or the program will have no wallpapers to select from. Once setup has been run, the file Wallp.Ini will appear in your windows directory, this is the only other file which the system will make. Available Wallpaper This is the list of bitmaps in your windows directory which windows can use as wallpapers. Date Type If you have selected a wallpaper to be show on particular dates this field can hold one of:- Weekly Monthly, By Day of Month Monthly, By Day of Week Annually Once Date The date on which a particular wallpaper will be shown (modified by the Date type field.) To set a date for a wallpaper, select the line and its details will move to the row of controls at the bottom of the window, select the date and the calendar window will come up, select as appropriate. To remove a date select it and after sending the calendar window away, press delete. File The filename of a wallpaper bitmap. Tile Whether the bitmap is to be tiled or Centred. Weight This number is used to alter how likely a certain wallpaper is to be shown, the higher the number the more likely it is to be shown. Post When changes have been made this will post them to the list. Show Uses the selected bitmap as the wallpaper. Exit Close the program. Planned upgrades: A help file. The ability to select patterns and background colours to go with centred bitmaps. Have an option to change wallpaper after a period of time. Select screen savers at random. Known problems: The first time you run the program, it may well complain that it can't find a file, this will be Wallp.Ini, which it will subsequently make and therefore the message will not recur. (I love phrasing things in technical sounding jargon)
