Since the GRUNT engine is still being worked on (the GRUNT.EXE), the attachment of .001 was started to distiguish releases of the engine. Therefore 1.0.028, 1.0.029 and so on. @X0EGRUNT is a dungeon-module-engine-program. It uses external DUNGEON information and processes it. Your users then interact within that dungeon setting. Look for new dungeon modules to be released in the future. @OK! @CLS @X0F@MD:IF YOU ARE INSTALLING GRUNT FOR THE FIRST TIME: @X0AInstall is going to create the directories needed, and run the self-extracting files GEN.EXE, GRUNT!.EXE and DUNGEON.EXE. These will automatically fill the directories DUNGEON and GEN with the appropriate files necessary. It will also create the directory LOCK for working in a multi-user setting (even if you are not running multi-user). @X0F@MD:IF YOU ARE UPGRADING TO A NEW VERSION OF GRUNT! @X0AInstall will note that the directories already exist, but over-write the files in GEN and DUNGEON with the new files. It will NOT overwrite your "USERFILE.DAT" file which contains all of your players - so don't worry! @X0E ** Make sure you take a look at the CONFIG.DAT File ** ** All updates to the code are listed in UPDATE.TXT ** @OK! @CLS @X0F@MD:UPGRADE IN USER INFORMATION: @X0AWhen GRUNT version 1.0.029 was released, it had changes in the USERS structure, thus causing the "USERFILE.DAT" to become invalid. A conversion program called CNV28-29.EXE was then created to upgrade from 1.0.028 (or any version prior, starting from 1.0.017 [or 0.017]) to the 1.0.029 record structure. If the version of GRUNT you are currently using is 1.0.028 or less (but above 1.0.017), you will need to run the conversion program. This conversion program will be included with future releases of GRUNT until version 1.0.040 is released. @X0BINSTALL will prompt you to run the conversion program if you are upgrading. @X0F ONLY RUN THE CONVERSION PROGRAM IF: @X0E You are running a version of GRUNT that is 1.0.028 or LESS. @X0C DO NOT RUN THE CONVERSION PROGRAM TWICE! IT WILL CORRUPT YOUR USERFILE! @OK! @CLS @X0F@MD:Are you upgrading to a new version of GRUNT? @X0AIf you are, and you have a registered copy of GRUNT, NO PROBLEM! Your new version of GRUNT will automatically use your registration key. You will find this available on all versions of GRUNT from 1.0.028+. @X0BAll future upgrades to the GRUNT game are FREE for registered sysops! @OK! @CLS @X0F@MD:Have you registered yet? @X0ATo order GRUNT, locate the file "ORDERFRM.TXT" found in your GRUNT directory, print it out, fill it out - and mail it in. Once you enter your GRUNT REGISTRATION KEY, you have lifetime registrations to the game.
