GRADER (tm) Version 5.1 GRADER is an easy-to-use program to maintain class grades. The control structure is intuitive, powerful, and flexible. The use of a spreadsheet layout allows easy entry and modification. Command choices are mnemonic and are listed on-screen. The GRADER program offers many features, including: 1. Students are identified by name or id, and can be referred to by moving a cursor or by typing any prefix of their name or id. 2. A comment line can be attached to student records. 3. Grades may be numeric or letter. 4. Can enter a sequence of student scores directly using just the number pad and the space bar. 5. Can display/file all grades of one student, performance of all students for one grade, or all grades of all students, together with averages for each grade, for each student, and for the class. Histograms too. 6. Can combine columns within one gradebase. Can combine gradebases. 7. Several grade curving options. Also, can drop the lowest, or 2 lowest of designated grades. 8. Output can be sorted by name, id, or score. Requirements: 386 or higher, DOS 3.0 or later, 400k memory Installation: Place all files in a directory of your choice and then execute the makegrdr.bat program, which will create grader.exe Invocation: grader.exe [ ] The program looks at the command line for an optional specification of the gradebase file. Documentation on program usage is available within the program by pressing the `?' key. This shareware software may be freely distributed, provided that (1) such distribution includes only the original archive supplied by D. S. Hirschberg. You may not alter, delete or add any files. (2) the distribution does not include a registration number. In particular, you may not distribute a registered version of GRADER. This distribution contains coff2exe.exe and go32.exe, which are a part of the djgpp system, a copy of which can be obtained from distributors such as SimTel (for example, by anonymous ftp to oak.oakland.edu).
