ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ¿ ³ What's new ? ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ So, you'd like to know what's improved since you last dowloaded Cheat Machine ? Take a look ... ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± Versions of Cheat Machine ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± * 2.03 - Broke the 500 cheats limit! (And sued some guys for ripping) - Added multi-tasker support. When run under any multi-tasker, (OS/2, Windows,...) CM will consume nearly no system recources. You may not notice it, but all other programs running at the same time as CM will run faster. Check it on your "performance monitor" utility. This is done by returning all possible time slices to the OS, rather than "busy waiting". Note: This technique will now be used in all our products. - Changed A_FOREST.COM a few bytes. Due to a bug in McAfee Scan 2.2.6, it fingered as a virus! Since McAfee is playing deaf, I decided to solve the problem myself and rearranged the order of some statements. This shows just how reliable those scanners are. NOT! * 2.02 - Adlib music in the background ! (Tell me if you like the song) Phew. Now there are animation routines, digital samples and background music in it. Whatch out Apogee ! :) - Added FILE.LST : complete with CRC's and PGP-signature so no-one can f**k up your copy unnoticed. - Cosmetic changes - Crack library added ! - Soundblaster info is now retrieved from the SET BLASTER info. - Revised documentation - Made the credits screen just a bit harder to find :) * 2.01 - VGA-picture doesn't pop up any more when running under Winslows. This way, you can keep CM running in a window. - Easter eggs ("gang screens") are now in a seperate .CHT. - Fixed the bug that gave the "Numeric Co-processor required". It should now be gone forever. Thanks to O.K. for pointing it out. Hey, how am I to test _that_ on a 486 ? Note : From next version on, I will only use 286+ code. So, if there are still XT-ers amongst you, yell *now* ! - Various small improvements/bugfixes * 2.00 - Fixed bugs and added sugestions from Beta-testers Tested on : 386, 486, Pentium (Compaq, IBM and various clones) under: Dos 3.21, 3.3, 4, 5, 6, 6.2, 6.22 OS/2 2.1, OS/2 3.0 Warp (English & Dutch versions) Windows 3.1, 3.11, 95 ("final" :) beta) The only crash happend when trying to run CM under Windows 3.11 from some-one else's hard-disk. I haven't found what the cause is, but I guess it has something to do with the file-sharing protection WfWg uses. I'm not spending much energy on this unless someone asks me. Just copy the file to your local drive, then run it. K.I.S,S. * 2.0Beta - Some serious Beta testing on this one ! - Library system finally implemented !!! This means that CM is now diskbased, instead of memory based. Instead of 200 Kb, you can now have 2Gb of cheats ! :) - Documentation revised by professionals - Heavy cosmetic changes - Added Support for commercial ansi's. - The /Sysop parameter is gone (made obsolete by above addition). If you are a sysop, read SYSOP.TXT - Some kewl fading routines thrown in. - Less nagging delay ! - What's new file is now upside down * 1.94 - Had a HD-crash, so some routines where re-written. Contact us when you notice something we missed ! - Some smaller bug-fixes. The directory prompt behaves more logical now. (According to some users) - Updated the mailing adres everywhere * 1.93 - Added "stars-background" on intro screen. - Added COMMENTS.TXT. - Added Zip-file verificitation so you can see it is the real thing (You should see the things a BBS can do to a .ZIP file !) - Changed the name of the archive to CHTMxxx.ZIP because CM created some confusion. * 1.92 - Fixed bug in Strike Commander patch - Improved virus protection. This means : Don't change ANYTHING on the EXE. Don't use LZEXE (or the likes) on it, it's already compressed. Don't use CPAV-immune system (or....), it's already protected. * 1.91 - Bug fix : Printing of cheats In previous versions, printing was handled by an assembler routine that rammed the bytes thru the printer-port at top speed. However, as some users indicated is not ideal on networks or on certain inkjet printers. Now all information is send neatly to the "PRN", device as dictated by Intel. It's slower, but more reliable. You can't have it both ways ! - Renewed CPU detection ; now handles from 8086 upto Pentium ! * 1.90 - Celebration of cheat #250 - Added more easter eggs - Updated credits screen At the rate we are going, soon the cheats won't fit in memory anymore and we will have to write a disk-base routine. Anybody comments ? * 1.89 - Added Boss-key under [F3] (and under [Alt]+[B] fo Sierra-gamers) The boss-screen looks like a very slow and ugly virus-scanner. This was the most boring thing we could come up with. Try it. - Added Auto-registration-sensing system : the program will act differently on computers of registered users ! - Changed the glue for the labels on registered disks ! - Automaticaly changed date of all files, because otherwise some BBS programs freak out over the date-time field. * 1.88 - Improved compression of cheats - Bug fixes in some loaders - Minor code enhancements - Added easter-eggs and Amiga cheats to registered version - Disabled VGA-font when under Windows. The Windows emulation made the boxes look awfull ! - Got a "Pc action Replay" thing. Funny kind of thing. Can be usefull sometimes. Found the undocumented commands too : "hi", "hello", "simon" and "credits". Why am I telling you this ? - Finally broke the 200-cheats limit. Had to adapt some structures. - Rewrote FILE_ID.DIZ. Looks a lot nicer (I think). - Added statistics under [F2] - Added procedure for adding BBS information in .EXE ! It will be displayed in a window on the main screen. - Improved anti-tampering system * 1.87 - Added support for SoundBlaster compatibles (Couldn't resist temptation) (Use /NOSOUND to turn off, SET SBADR= and SET SBINT= to change defaults. Sorry, testing all possible int's and adr's would be dangerous ) Is it worth the extra 25Kb ? Send us your comments. - Fixed bug in "fast-letter-search" algo. - It finally happened : the programs on the registered version grew so large they couldn't be zipped to a 720K diskette. Since we now ship 1.44Mb's or 1.2Mb's, we added some more programs. * 1.86 - Added virus / tampering resistance - Added secret credits-screen Acces it by pressing .... uuuh something with [Ctrl] - Revised Cheat Machine kit documentation * 1.85 - Added WHATSNEW.DOC ! - Code improvements - Added some animation on intro-screen - Improved Cheat Machine kit for registered users * 1.4 thru 1.84 (As far as we remember) - A lot of code improvements - Added ability to print any cheat, not just type "info" - Added VGA intro screen - Added "Automated registration system" - Removed print-me-out form in documentation - Added VGA-font-boxes - Fixed VGAReset function which caused slight changes in the font on some VGA's. Sorry. It now behaves according to IBM's specs. - Patching a file no longer changes its date - Added Help screen under [F1] (does anybody use it ?) - Added CM.PIF for Windows users - Added FILE_ID.DIZ for BBS operators - Added 3 "ANSI" exit screens (saw a program that had 1, had to do better !) - Fixed error handling when trying to write on writeprotected disk - Improved patching routine : more flexible - Added /? parmeter (does anybody need it ?) * 1.0 thru 1.3 - First real test cases - Contains the print-me-out form in the documentation. * 0.1 - Beta version, not released to general public. More of a wild idea than an actual program. (Early versions are not all very precise because we like to code more than we like to document !)
