WELCOME TO GRAPHIC E-MAIL ... ************************************************************************** Thank you for using Graphic E-mail ... the funtastic new e-mail client for Internet users. Graphic E-mail supports multi-media correspondence and traditional text-based messages. This document contains a description of Graphic E-mail for Windows, a list of hardware and software requirements and instructions on how to install the actual program files. There are also some resources for people who have questions or need assistance with Graphic E-mail for Windows. What, exactly, is this software program all about? First, and foremost, Graphic E-mail an entertainment product. Not only is it fun to use ... but it also contains practical functions to handle the daily requirements for most e-mail users. Graphic E-mail provides full support for traditional text-based e-mail and it also allows you to send multi-media messages that do not add megabytes of information to size of your message. To do so, it uses special templates that attach graphics, music and sound to your e-mail messages. There are nine templates in the freeware version of the program. Users who want to create their own templates for correspondence are encouraged to test out the shareware version of Graphic E Designer which is also included with this distribution kit. As a fully functional freeware program, Graphic E-mail may be used at no cost on your computer system. You may distribute it on the Internet and electronic bulletin board systems in its original archive. Graphic E-mail is protected by copyright. Please review the freeware license in the Graphic E-mail Help document which explains the few restrictions on its use. ************************************************************************** 2. REQUIREMENTS FOR GRAPHIC E-MAIL ... ************************************************************************** Before you install the program files, please make sure that your computer system meets or exceeds the following requirements. If necessary, change your Windows video display mode (see Control Panel | Windows Setup) or make other required changes before you begin the installation. System Requirements - IBM-compatible computer system. - Windows 3.1, Windows95 or Windows NT. - E-mail account (SMTP/POP3 server). - Windows socket (Trumpet Winsock, FTP Socket, etc.). - Windows SuperVGA video (more than 256 colors). - Hard-disk with 5mb disk space available. - Windows-compatible mouse. - Windows-compatible sound card recommended. - Printer recommended but not required. After installation, you will be asked for some information so that you can configure Graphic E-mail to use with your mail server: Server and Account Information - Name - Organization (or city) - E-mail address - Login name - Password - SMTP mail server name (or address) - POP3 mail server name (or address) Many access providers use the same name or address for both the SMTP server (outgoing mail) and the POP3 server (incoming mail). Contact your access provider or your system administrator if you need help with any of these settings. ************************************************************************** 3. HOW TO INSTALL GRAPHIC E-MAIL ************************************************************************** Installing Graphic E-mail on your hard disk is easy! Make sure that all of the archive files are extracted into a temporary directory before you begin the installation. If you are using Windows 3.1, Windows for WorkGroups or Windows NT, just follow these simple installation steps: 1) Run Windows 2) Select "File" from the main menu bar. 3) Select "Run" from the pulldown menu items. 4) Browse to your temporary directory. 5) Select and run the file "setup.exe". If you are using Windows95, use these installation steps: 1) Run Windows 2) Select the "Start" button on Windows95 Taskbar. 3) Select "Run" from the Start button menu. 4) Browse to your temporary directory. 5) Select and run the file "setup.exe". After installation, remove the archive files and delete your temporary directory to increase the space which is available on your hard disk. ************************************************************************** 4.
