ModemSta Lite: What can it do for You?

Win3: ModemSta Lite places a modem icon on the desktop. Before a 
connection is established, data activity on a COM port is shown with  
BLUE lights. 
When connected, the lights will turn RED and data activity is shown with 
GREEN LIGHTS.
By clicking with the LEFT MOUSE BUTTON on ModemSta Lite, You can select 
the comm port to be monitored, select Always-On-Top for the icon and 
also reach the HELP screen. Clicking with the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON takes 
You directly to the ABOUT Dialog.

Win95: When using 32 bit comm programs, Win95 places a small modem icon 
in the SYSTEM TRAY (close to the clock) when connected, but not for 16 
bit comm programs. 
ModemSta Lite fills this hole by placing a similar icon in the SYSTEM 
TRAY when a 16 bit comm program is connected. 
Data activity is shown by GREEN LIGHTS.
By clicking with the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON on ModemSta Lite's icon in the 
task bar, You can select the comm port being detected and reach the HELP 
screen.

Note: ModemSta Lite uses the DCD (or CD) signal from the modem to detect 
if connected or not. A few modems always shows the DCD signal ON. The 
command AT&C1 can usually be given to the modem to activate the DCD 
detection, e.g. as a part of an init string for a dialer or a 
communication program.

window (several formats available) of a typical modem's front panel.
A number of handy functions has also been added such as modem init-
ialization, logging of incoming calls and connections, additional status 
info, summary of all communications settings in DOS and Windows, 
generation of sound in parallel to or instead of the telephone's ring 
signal and at line connection events. The SPY functions in Win3 will 
show You the connect speed, dialed telephone #, true data rate and 
number of transmitted byte during the session.
The status and activity of the parallel ports in Your system can also be 
monitored.
