MailChk/2 for OS/2 ver 3.0 ---------------------- programmed by Michael J. Banks MailChk/2 is a 32-bit multithreaded freeware utility that operates under a Netware/OS/2/Pegasus Mail environment. It allows the user to specify the root mail directory and will automatically scan for new Pegasus Mail messages, displaying the number of unread messages, playing a specified .wav file (requires MMPM) and floating to the top until the messages are marked as read. It also will specify the Netware I.D. of the person currently logged in. Text color of the Mail notification feature is user settable. Additionally, the user can set MailChk/2 to automatically start Pegasus Mail or Pegasus Mail for Windows (or any reader that supports Pegasus Mail file types) by double clicking on Mailchk/2's window. FileList: BPMCC.DLL: Borland Custom Control DLL MAILCHK2.EXE: Executable with code to access MMPM/2 MCHKNOSD.EXE: EXecutable without code to access MMPM/2 README.TXT: This file Installation instructions: 1. Create a directory 2. Copy the DLL and One EXE into that directory. 3. Put the directory in your LIBPATH. 4. Setup a program object and put it in your startup. 5. Restart OS/2 You only need one of the EXEs. If you don't have MMPM/2 installed, the EXE with the code to access MMPM/2 will not start. Usage Instructions: ---------- Mail: Set refresh to whatever you want Mail directory path should be something like O:\Mail\ NOT the user's actual Mail directory - MailChk/2 will scan and find the user's mail directory. This allows multiple users to use MailChk/2 on the same machine without reconfiguring the mail directory. Reader: Mail reader program should be set to the full path i.e o:\public\pmail.exe Working directory is pretty self-explanatory New Mail Color: The background is set to Window Background and the text is Window Text. Pick a New Mail text color that shows up well when the program pops to the top. Sounds: Click the sound check box and set the full path to the .wav you want to play. RESTART MailChk/2 for the sound settings to take effect. The "sound errors on" checkbox allows you to disable sound errors. This is important if you have a Win session open that uses sound. If this box is checked you will get an error when the new mail .wav file is played. If you use Win sessions with sound leave this box unchecked. E-mail any bugs or comments to: mbanks@resnet.uconn.edu
