Straight at PC-Games in super-VGA is this question of crucial meaning, there the refresh rate at low end computers easily under 3 frames per second. Through the calculation of the frames per second make it easy to find out, if the computer is suitable for current super-VGA games. Of course the real refresh rate of games like, WingCommander3/4 and EF2000, becomes to be lower as the high speed swapping of GameSpeed. With 70 frames per second in super-VGA modes becomes almost every new game a rational refresh rate. At alternations in the BIOS setup, or another hardware, bring up the right decision, if this changing brings more speed, or not. 3. The testpicture becomes copy only in the beginning in the video-RAM, and subsequent become writing per cycle the red/green/blue values in the DAC color register of the graphicboard. In order to reach a moving alteration of the color palette, change the RGB-values only per 100 cycles. By that becomes reduced the access to the RAM and make it possible to have a real validation of the color rotation. 4. Benchmark The reference computer is a 486DX2/66 with a Cirrus Logic graphicboard and a VesaLocalBus ( No.6 ). The overall benchmark for this computer is 10.00 . By the older versions of GameSpeed become a IBM PS/2 computer fixed as the reference, but this low end computer has no super-VGA graphicboard. For this reason becomes from version 4.0 a 486DX2/66 the benchmark reference. 5.
