Unlike most other similar programs, FileVision has a graphical user interface and the obvious straightforward way of operating the program is by a mouse. There is however full keyboard support and the behaviour of the keys can easely be customized. The program is based around two file windows and 37 user defined buttons. Each button can have a "backside" which gives 74 possible different functions. The way the source and destination directory is displayed in the file windows can also be customized. FileVision is all in all designed to be open for the user to configure to his/her special needs. The requirements to run FileVision is: - IBM PC or compatible with 386DX processor or better - DOS 5.0 or better - Mouse with a Microsoft Mouse Driver or compatible installed - VGA graphics card The following files are contained in the original archive. Using FileVision 컴컴컴컴컴컴컴컴 This section is not intended as a manual for FileVision, but as an introduction or a 'getting started' section. A complete manual for FileVision has not been written yet and it will only be available to registered users when ready. In the following text a number elements in FileVision will be introduced. Throughout this text an abbreviation like 'Config/Drives' will be used. It meens, press the Config button in the lower right corner of the screen, and then press the Drives button in Configuration Menu. - At the top of the screen, just above the two file windows, are two fields with different colors. These colors indicate which window is the source window and which is the destination window. In the standard configuration, the source color is light red and the destination color is light green. The colors can be changed in the Config/General menu. The fields also show the source and destination directory. Between the fields are two buttons with an 'L' and 'R' on them. Pressing one of them will give access to options about sorting and excluding files from the directory shown in that window. - There is a row of buttons under each file window showing the available driveletters. Pressing one of these buttons will read the last current directory of that drive. The buttons can be changed to read the root directory in the Config/Drives menu. The leftmost button under the left window, and the rightmost button under the right window, shows '..'. This button will read and show the parent directory. Pressing the right mousebutton instead, reads the root directory of the active drive. - At the bottom of the screen is a large button, which at startup shows the free memory. Pressing this button will change it to show the free space on the source and destination drive. Other status information may be shown here as well. Pressing this button again will return it to the previous state showing free memory. - Above the bottom button and below the file windows is 4 rows of buttons each having 10 buttons. 37 of these buttons can be user defined. The last 3 is Config, Help and About. The Help button has no function yet. These 37 user definable buttons can be customized in the Config/Buttons menu. Three types of buttons exists: Undefined, Internal and External. At the top of the Config/Buttons menu is a button with a circular arrow, which shows what type of button the active one is. Since this is not a manual, a complete description of the Config/Buttons will not be made here, but you are encouraged to experiment with this menu as it holds a lot of opportunities. - You are in general encouraged to explore the configuration menu because it will give you the possibility to exploit FileVision to its full potential.
