SyncChat 2.3 Upgrading Instructions ----------------------------------- Note: Many upgrading procedures require adding lines to your STRINGS.DAT file. If you have not edited this file (or at least don't mind recreating any changes you made), you may delete this file. Then run SCONFIG->String Editor and a fully updated STRINGS.DAT will be created automatically. You can then skip the steps that say "Add the following lines to your STRINGS.DAT...". To Upgrade from SyncChat 2.2, follow these steps: 1. UNZIP SC.ZIP 2. Overwrite these files with the new ones from SC.ZIP SYNCCHAT.EXE SCONFIG.EXE ORDER.TXT SYNCCHAT.DOC 3. Run SCONFIG and press 'P'. You will notice the new "Security Levels Editor". Fill out the two options displayed on your screen accordingly. 4. All done! To Upgrade from SyncChat 2.1, follow these steps: 1. UNZIP SC.ZIP 2. Overwrite these files with the new ones from SC.ZIP SYNCCHAT.EXE SCONFIG.EXE SYNCREG.EXE SYNCREG.DOC ORDER.TXT SYNCCHAT.DOC 3. Add the following line to STRINGS.DAT (Line 78): ngNumber of node to send message to, or hwQnguit : hw 4. If you run Telegard v3.0+, go into SCONFIG, press 'W', and choose "Telegard 3.0+" from the list. Then press 'D' and fill out that option as well. 5. Run SCONFIG and press 'P'. You will notice the new "Security Levels Editor". Fill out the two options displayed on your screen accordingly. 6. That's it! To Upgrade from SyncChat 2.0, follow these steps: 1. UNZIP SC.ZIP 2. Thou art done :) If you are still using an ancient copy of SyncChat 1.5 or below, you must reinstall it. Kill your SYNCCHAT directory (ex: DELTREE C:\SBBS\XTRN\SYNCCHAT), and then type "INSTALL".
