Trial Run Version 6. Known Problems 7. Why is MRODEMO.EXE So Big? 8. How to Order 1. Installation ---------------- Create a new sub directory and PKUNZIP the MRODEMO.ZIP. 2. DBDEMOS (Required data files) --------------------------------- MRODEMO.EXE assumes that the Borland Database Engine is installed on your system and that DBDEMOS alias has been set up. MRODEMO use the BIOLIFE.DB, CUSTOMER.DB, EMPLOYEE.DB, and ORDERS.DB tables. 3. Visual Inconsistencies -------------------------- When you run the demo, keep in mind that all the controls that appear in the focused or selected record are drawn and managed by the native controls (to fully understand how TtaDBMRO works, please read the section in the documentation devoted to this topic). Records appearing above or below the selected record are drawn by TtaDBMRO. When you toggle various properties (particularly Enabled on the "Lookup's, ComboBox's, ..." tab), you may notice that the controls appear visually inconsistent within the selected record. This is simply how the controls work, and is not a result of anything done by the demo. TtaDBMRO does faithfully reproduce the appearance of the controls in the adjacent records (inconsistencies and all). 4. Documentation ----------------- See TADBMRO.WRI. 5. Trial Run Version _____________________ The trial run version of this software is available in the same forum that you downloaded MRODEMO.ZIP under the name MRO.ZIP. The trial run version includes the DCU file, the source code to this demo, documentation, online help, etc. 6. Known Problems ------------------ The appearance of controls varies slightly when an application is run on Win31, Win95, and WinNT. TtaDBMRO has been tested on each of these systems and there are two known problems that affect fields other than those in the focused or selectected record: under Win31 the cursor does not assume the crIBeam shape over TDBComboBox's; and under all versions of Windows clicking on the scroll bar of a TDBMemo does not scroll the contents on the first click. 7. Why is MRODEMO.EXE So Big? ------------------------------ The EXE file is so big largely because of the the third party components that are part of the demo. For instance, there are three DBLookupCombo variations, none of which share any code. The Orpheus controls also include a lot of overhead. Finally, the demo uses every Borland data aware control, something a real application is not likely to do. 8. How to Order ---------------- The simplest way to order TtaDBMRO is via SWREG. Just GO SWREG at the CIS prompt, the order number is 8213, and the price is $29.95 US. Also, TtaDBMRO is available directly from Tamarack Associates for $25.00 US (for details, see the Order Form in TADBMRO.WRI).
