TO INSTALL DESKPOCKET REFERENCE 1. Choose Run from the File menu of Windows Program Manager (or choose Run from the Windows 95 Start Menu). 2. Type A:SETUP (or B:SETUP) and click OK. 3. The program will be installed in a directory named POCKET, a DeskPocket Reference program group will be created and the program Icons will be installed in the program group. Note: If you can't run DeskPocket Reference by simply double clicking on the Pocket.hlp Icon (from File Manager), there is something wrong with the way your computer set-up is configured. Microsoft Windows associates files with windows programs by the type file extension they contain. ".txt" files with Notepad.exe, ".wri" files with windows Write.exe, ".bmp" files with windows paintbrush.exe and ".hlp" files with windows WinHelp.exe. Any time you double click on a file with any of these extensions (from File Manager), the associated program will start-up and open the file you double click. TO MANUALLY INSTALL DeskPocket Reference, Pocket.hlp 1. Run File Manager and log onto "A" drive. 2. If you only want to run pocket.hlp, simply double click on the pocket.hlp file. The help file will be displayed. 3. If you want to install the file on you hard disk, simply click on the file name and highlight it, then select "Copy" from the file manager file menu. When the copy dialog box is displayed, type in the directory name where you want to copy the file to (i.e. c:\windows). 4. Select OK and the file will be copied onto your hard disk. TO INSTALL AN ICON ON YOUR DESKTOP FOR THE pocket.Hlp, Help File 1. Select the Program Manager "File" menu item . 2. Select New from the file menu Be sure you know what Program Manager Group is Active. The New (program Item) Item selection install the Icon in the CURRENTLY active group (i.e. main, accessories or etc.). The name of the active group Icon will be highlighted or if the group is open, one of the groups program items (programs) will be highlighted. 3. Select Program Item and then select OK 4. Type in the name for the Icon, you want to be displayed 5. Type in the help file name (i.e. pocket.hlp) in the command line entry blank. 6. Type in the name of the directory you copied the help file into (i.e. c:\windows). 7. You can type in a shortcut key if you like to use them. 8. Then select OK. The Help File Icon will be added to the program manager group. 9. All you have to do now is double click the Help Icon and the reference help file will be activated. If all else fails, select windows help from the program manager menu, then select "contents" and the windows help file will be displayed. Then select Open from the Help window menu and a open file dialog window will be displayed. Change to the drive (a: floppy drive) where Pocket.hlp is located and select "pocket.hlp".
